1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, programming, and operation of your ASONPAO Universal Garage Door Opener Keypad and Remote. This system offers convenient and secure access to your garage.

1.1 Compatibility

The ASONPAO Universal Keypad and Remote is designed for wide compatibility with LiftMaster, Chamberlain, and Sears Craftsman garage door openers manufactured since 1993. It supports openers with Purple, Yellow, Red, Orange, or Green learn buttons. This device is a replacement for models such as 877MAX, 878MAX, 877LM, 377LM, 977LM, 66LM, 893LM, 891LM, 371LM, 971LM, 81LM, 893MAX, 895MAX, 890MAX, and G953EV-P2.

Important Note: This product does NOT support Security+ 3.0 White Learn Buttons produced in 2026. It also does NOT support Dip Switch Garage Door Openers or Craftsman Series 100.

2. Safety Information

Please read and understand all safety warnings before installation and use. Improper installation or use can lead to serious injury or property damage.

• Always keep the remote controls and keypads out of reach of children.
• Do not allow children to operate the garage door opener.
• Ensure the garage door is visible when operating it with the remote or keypad.
• Keep hands and feet clear of the garage door path.
• Test the safety reversal system of your garage door opener monthly.

3. Package Contents

Your ASONPAO Universal Garage Door Opener Keypad and Remote package should include the following items:

• 1 x Wireless Keypad
• 1 x Keychain Remote Control
• 1 x 9V Alkaline Battery (pre-installed in keypad)
• Mounting Hardware (screws and anchors)

4. Setup and Programming

Follow these steps to program your ASONPAO Universal Keypad and Remote to your garage door opener.

4.1 Locate the Learn Button

First, locate the 'Learn' button on your garage door opener motor unit. The color of this button (Yellow, Purple, Red/Orange, Green) indicates the frequency and security technology of your opener. The location of the learn button may vary depending on your garage door opener model.

4.2 Programming the Keypad

1. Prepare: Press and hold the '*' and '#' buttons simultaneously on the keypad until the lights on the keypad stop blinking.
2. Enter PIN: Enter a 4-digit personal identification number (PIN) of your choice, then press the '#' button.
3. Select Learn Button Type: Press and release the 'Enter' button the number of times that corresponds with your garage door opener type:
   
   • 1 Press: Security+ 2.0 (Yellow Learn Button)
   • 2 Presses: Security+ (Purple Learn Button)
   • 3 Presses: 390 MHz Security+ (Red/Orange Learn Button)
   • 4 Presses: 390 MHz Billion Code (Green Learn Button)
4. Exit Programming: To exit programming mode, press the '0' button.
5. Activate Learn Mode: Press and release the 'Learn' button on the garage door opener. The Learn LED will light. You have 30 seconds to complete the next step.
6. Finalize Programming: Enter the 4-digit PIN (programmed in step 2) on the keypad, then press and release the 'Enter' button. The garage door opener light will flash or two clicks will be heard, indicating successful programming.
7. Test: To test, press the PIN, then the 'Enter' button. The garage door will activate.

Note: To program the Keyless Entry to more than one garage door opener, repeat the steps above using a new PIN for each additional garage door opener.

To test operation, enter the PIN then press the ENTER button. The door opener will activate. The keypad will remain lit for 20 seconds; during this 20 seconds, press the ENTER button, it can be used to open/start or reverse the door.

4.3 Programming the Keychain Remote

The keychain remote can operate up to 4 garage doors (4-channel) or 5 garage doors (5-channel, depending on model). The programming process is similar to the keypad:

1. Activate Learn Mode: Press and release the 'Learn' button on your garage door opener motor unit. The Learn LED will light for 30 seconds.
2. Program Remote: Within 30 seconds, press and hold the desired button on your keychain remote until the garage door opener lights flash or two clicks are heard.
3. Test: Press the programmed button on the remote to test its operation.

5. Operation

5.1 Keypad Entry

To open or close your garage door using the keypad:

1. Enter your personalized 4-digit PIN.
2. Press the 'Enter' button. The garage door will activate.

5.2 Temporary Password

The keypad supports setting a temporary password for guests or service personnel. Refer to the detailed instructions provided with the product for setting up and managing temporary access codes.

5.3 Night Light Feature

The keypad features a built-in night light for enhanced visibility in low-light conditions, making it user-friendly day or night.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Battery Replacement

The keypad is powered by a high-capacity 9V Alkaline battery. When the keypad lights dim or it becomes unresponsive, it's time to replace the battery. To replace the battery:

1. Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the keypad.
2. Remove the old 9V battery.
3. Insert a new 9V Alkaline battery, ensuring correct polarity.
4. Close the battery compartment cover.

The keychain remote also uses a battery, typically a coin cell battery. Refer to the remote's specific instructions for battery replacement.

6.2 Cleaning

Clean the keypad and remote with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your ASONPAO Universal Keypad or Remote, try the following troubleshooting steps:

• Keypad/Remote Not Responding:
  • Check the battery in the keypad/remote and replace if necessary.
  • Ensure you are within the operating range (up to 164 feet).
  • Verify that the keypad/remote is correctly programmed to your garage door opener. Re-attempt the programming steps if unsure.
• Garage Door Not Opening/Closing:
  • Confirm that your garage door opener is receiving power.
  • Check for any obstructions in the path of the garage door.
  • Ensure the safety sensors are aligned and free of debris.
• Frequent Code Resets Required:
  • While rare, if you find yourself frequently resetting codes, ensure the keypad is securely mounted and not exposed to extreme environmental conditions that might affect its electronics.
  • Verify compatibility with your specific garage door opener model and learn button type.
• Keypad Lights Not Working:
  • Replace the 9V battery.
