This manual provides instructions for the safe and efficient operation of your Hamilton Beach FlexBrew Advanced 4-in-1 Single Serve Coffee Maker. This appliance is designed to brew both hot and iced coffee using either K-Cup®* pods or ground coffee. Please read all instructions carefully before use and retain for future reference.

Important Safeguards

Setup and First Use

  1. Unpack: Remove all packaging materials and accessories.
  2. Clean Components: Wash the removable water reservoir, pod holder, single-serve brew basket, cup rest, and drip tray in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
  3. Position: Place the coffee maker on a flat, stable surface. Ensure it is only 5.5 inches wide, making it suitable for compact spaces.
  4. Fill Water Reservoir: Fill the removable 45 oz. water reservoir with fresh, cold water up to the MAX fill line. Place it back onto the coffee maker.
  5. First Clean Cycle: Before brewing coffee, run a clean cycle.
    • Ensure no pod or ground coffee is in the brew head.
    • Place a large mug or container on the cup rest.
    • Select a large brew size (e.g., 14 oz) and press the brew button.
    • Discard the hot water after the cycle is complete. Repeat if desired.

Operating Instructions

Brewing Hot Coffee with a K-Cup®* Pod

  1. Ensure the water reservoir is filled with fresh, cold water.
  2. Lift the brew head handle.
  3. Insert a K-Cup®* pod into the pod holder. Close the brew head handle firmly until it clicks.
  4. Place your mug on the cup rest. The cup rest is removable to accommodate travel mugs up to 7.5 inches tall.
  5. On the LED touchscreen, select your desired hot coffee brew size (8, 10, 12, or 14 oz).
  6. To adjust strength, press the coffee bean icon for "Bold" brew if desired, or leave for "Regular" brew.
  7. Press the brew button (power icon) to start brewing. The coffee maker will brew an 8 oz. cup in approximately 2 minutes.
  8. When brewing is complete, carefully remove your mug.

Brewing Hot Coffee with Ground Coffee

  1. Ensure the water reservoir is filled with fresh, cold water.
  2. Lift the brew head handle.
  3. Place the single-serve brew basket into the brew head. Add your desired amount of ground coffee (refer to coffee packaging for recommended amounts). Do not overfill.
  4. Close the brew head handle firmly until it clicks.
  5. Place your mug on the cup rest.
  6. On the LED touchscreen, select your desired hot coffee brew size (8, 10, 12, or 14 oz).
  7. To adjust strength, press the coffee bean icon for "Bold" brew if desired, or leave for "Regular" brew.
  8. Press the brew button (power icon) to start brewing.
  9. When brewing is complete, carefully remove your mug.

Brewing Iced Coffee with a K-Cup®* Pod

  1. Ensure the water reservoir is filled with fresh, cold water.
  2. Fill your serving cup with ice.
  3. Lift the brew head handle.
  4. Insert a K-Cup®* pod into the pod holder. Close the brew head handle firmly until it clicks.
  5. Place your ice-filled cup on the cup rest.
  6. On the LED touchscreen, select your desired iced coffee brew size (10, 12, or 14 oz).
  7. Press the brew button (power icon) to start brewing.
  8. When brewing is complete, carefully remove your cup.

Brewing Iced Coffee with Ground Coffee

  1. Ensure the water reservoir is filled with fresh, cold water.
  2. Fill your serving cup with ice.
  3. Lift the brew head handle.
  4. Place the single-serve brew basket into the brew head. Add your desired amount of ground coffee.
  5. Close the brew head handle firmly until it clicks.
  6. Place your ice-filled cup on the cup rest.
  7. On the LED touchscreen, select your desired iced coffee brew size (10, 12, or 14 oz).
  8. Press the brew button (power icon) to start brewing.
  9. When brewing is complete, carefully remove your cup.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffee maker.

  • Daily Cleaning:
    • Unplug the coffee maker.
    • Remove the pod holder, single-serve brew basket, cup rest, and drip tray. Wash these parts in warm, soapy water or on the top rack of a dishwasher.
    • Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the coffee maker in water.
    • The LED touchscreen can be wiped clean with a damp cloth.
  • Descaling (Mineral Deposit Removal):

    Over time, mineral deposits (calcium) can build up in your coffee maker, affecting performance. Descale every 1-3 months, depending on water hardness.

    1. Empty the water reservoir.
    2. Fill the reservoir with one part white vinegar and two parts cold water.
    3. Place a large mug on the cup rest.
    4. Run several brew cycles until the reservoir is empty. Do not use a pod or ground coffee during this process.
    5. Rinse the reservoir and fill with fresh, cold water.
    6. Run several more brew cycles with fresh water to flush out any remaining vinegar.
