1. Important Safety Instructions

Please read all instructions carefully before using the COSTAR Master 9S Fully Automatic Espresso Machine. Retain this manual for future reference.

  • Ensure the machine is connected to a grounded power outlet with the correct voltage (220 Volts).
  • Do not immerse the machine, power cord, or plug in water or other liquids.
  • Keep children away from the machine during operation.
  • Unplug the machine before cleaning and when not in use.
  • Do not operate the machine with a damaged cord or plug. Contact customer service for repairs.
  • Use only whole coffee beans in the bean hopper. Do not use ground coffee, instant coffee, or other substances.
  • Exercise caution when handling hot surfaces and steam.

2. Product Overview

The COSTAR Master 9S is a fully automatic bean-to-cup espresso machine designed for convenience and quality. It features an integrated grinder, 19-bar Italian pump, and a milk frother.

3. Setup and First Use

3.1 Unpacking

Carefully remove all packaging materials. Check for any damage during transit. Ensure all included components are present: Cleaning Brush (x1), Coffee Outlet Brush (x1), Sealing Ring (x4).

3.2 Water Tank Installation

Locate the removable water tank (Capacity: 1.1 litres). Fill it with fresh, cold water up to the MAX line. Ensure it is securely placed back into the machine.

3.3 Bean Hopper

Open the lid of the bean hopper and pour whole coffee beans into it. The bean hopper capacity is 100g. Close the lid securely.

3.4 Initial Rinse Cycle

Before first use, perform an initial rinse cycle. Plug in the machine and turn it on. The machine will automatically perform a self-cleaning cycle. Place a container under the coffee spout and steam wand to collect water. This primes the system and cleans internal components.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Digital Touchscreen Control

The COSTAR Master 9S features a digital touchscreen for easy operation. Icons represent different functions and drink selections.

4.2 Adjusting Grind Settings

The integrated grinder offers 5 adjustable grind settings to suit different coffee bean types and desired brew strengths. Rotate the dial inside the bean hopper to select your preferred grind size. Finer grinds are suitable for espresso, while coarser grinds are better for drip or French press methods.

4.3 Brewing Coffee

  1. Ensure the water tank is filled and the bean hopper contains whole coffee beans.
  2. Place a cup under the adjustable coffee spout. The spout can be adjusted from 8-14cm in height to accommodate various cup sizes.

  4. Select your desired drink (Espresso, Americano, etc.) from the touchscreen. For a double cup, select the corresponding icon.
  5. The machine will automatically grind the beans, tamp them, and brew your coffee using its 19-bar Italian pump and pre-infusion technology for optimal extraction.

4.4 Using the Milk Frother

The built-in milk frother allows you to create creamy lattes and cappuccinos.

  1. Fill a pitcher with cold milk.
  2. Submerge the steam wand into the milk.
  3. Select the 'Steam' function on the touchscreen.
  4. Once the milk is frothed to your desired consistency, turn off the steam function.
  5. Immediately clean the steam wand after use by wiping it with a damp cloth and briefly purging steam to clear any milk residue.

5. Maintenance and Cleaning

5.1 Automatic Cleaning System

The machine features an automatic cleaning function that activates after each brew cycle and upon startup/shutdown. This helps maintain hygiene and coffee flavor.

5.2 Drip Tray and Coffee Grounds Container

Regularly empty and clean the drip tray and the internal coffee grounds container. The drip tray has an indicator to show when it needs emptying.

5.3 Descaling

The machine has a descaling function to remove mineral buildup. Refer to the on-screen prompts or a more detailed guide for the specific descaling procedure. Descaling frequency depends on water hardness and usage.

5.4 General Cleaning

  • Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth.
  • Use the provided cleaning brush and coffee outlet brush to clean the coffee spout and other accessible areas.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your COSTAR Master 9S, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
