Setup and Installation
Follow these steps to properly install your Phanteks M25-120 Gen2 fans into your computer system.
1. Preparing the Fans (Daisy-Chain Unified Fan Frame)
The M25 Gen2 fans feature a daisy-chain design, allowing multiple fans to be connected directly to each other, reducing cable clutter.
- If your fans are not already connected, align the interlocking edges of the fan frames.
- Slide one fan into the next until they click securely into place. A screw at one end and a small clip further up the side hold them together.
- To separate fans, remove the screw first and then carefully slide the fan off the clip. Note that the cables run on the opposite side of the screw, so there is no slack for a screw at both ends of the join.
- Once connected, you can apply the included screw covers to the corners and bridges for a clean, polished appearance.

2. Mounting the Fans
These fans are ideal for mounting on PC cases, radiators, or heat sinks.
- Identify the desired mounting location within your PC case or on your radiator/heat sink.
- Position the fan(s) against the mounting holes. Ensure the airflow direction is correct for your cooling needs (regular or reverse airflow models are available).
- Secure the fans using the provided fan screws. The fans feature raised rubber pads around the screw holes to help reduce vibration and noise.

3. Connecting the Cables
The M25 Gen2 fans use a 4-pin PWM connector for power and speed control.
- Locate an available 4-pin fan header on your motherboard or fan controller.
- Connect the 4-pin PWM cable from the daisy-chained fan unit to the motherboard header. If needed, use one of the provided 500mm PWM Extension Cables for extended reach.
- Ensure the connector is firmly seated.
Operating the Fans
The Phanteks M25-120 Gen2 fans are PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) controlled, allowing for dynamic speed adjustment based on system temperature or user settings.
- Automatic Control: Most modern motherboards will automatically control the fan speed based on CPU or system temperatures. This is typically configured in the motherboard's BIOS/UEFI settings.
- Manual Control: You can manually adjust fan speeds using motherboard software utilities or dedicated fan controllers. Refer to your motherboard's manual for specific instructions on fan control software.
- Phanteks NexLinq Compatibility: These fans are fully compatible with the Phanteks NexLinq App and Hub for easy integration and control of your fan setup, offering advanced customization options.
The fan speed range is 350-2000 RPM, providing a balance between quiet operation and high airflow performance.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps ensure optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your fans.
- Dust Removal: Periodically inspect the fan blades and frame for dust accumulation. Use compressed air or a soft, dry cloth to gently remove dust. Ensure the system is powered off and unplugged before cleaning.
- Avoid Liquids: Do not use liquid cleaners or immerse the fans in water.
- Bearing Care: The hydraulic bearing is designed for long-term, maintenance-free operation. Do not attempt to lubricate the bearing.
