Operating Instructions
Brewing a Full Carafe (12 Cups):
- Prepare Filter: Place a standard paper filter (cone-shaped) into the carafe brew basket.
- Add Coffee Grounds: Add your desired amount of ground coffee to the filter. For best results, use 1 tablespoon of ground coffee per cup.
- Add Water: Open the carafe water reservoir lid and fill with fresh, cold water up to the desired cup marking (2-12 cups). Do not exceed the 12-cup MAX line.
- Position Carafe: Place the empty glass carafe with its lid securely on the warming plate.
- Select Settings: On the intuitive touch display, select the 'Carafe' icon. Choose your desired brew strength (Regular or Bold) using the coffee bean icon.
- Start Brewing: Press the power button to begin brewing. The display will show 'Brewing'.
- Auto Pause & Pour: If you need a cup before brewing is complete, carefully remove the carafe. The brewing will pause. Replace the carafe within 20 seconds to resume brewing.
- Keep Warm: The warming plate will keep coffee warm for 4 hours, then automatically shut off.
Brewing a Single Serve (6-14 oz):
- Prepare Mesh Scoop: Open the single-serve brew basket cover. Place the included mesh scoop into the holder.
- Add Coffee Grounds: Add your desired amount of ground coffee to the mesh scoop. Do not overfill.
- Add Water: Open the single-serve water reservoir lid and fill with fresh, cold water up to the desired ounce marking (6-14 oz). Do not exceed the MAX line.
- Position Mug: Place your mug or travel cup on the adjustable cup rest. For taller mugs, remove the cup rest.
- Select Settings: On the intuitive touch display, select the 'Single Serve' icon. Choose your desired brew strength (Regular or Bold) using the coffee bean icon.
- Start Brewing: Press the power button to begin brewing. The display will show 'Brewing'.
- Enjoy: Once brewing is complete, carefully remove your mug.
Brewing Iced Coffee:
- Prepare Ice: Fill your carafe or single-serve mug with ice.
- Add Coffee Grounds: Follow steps 1-2 for either Carafe or Single Serve brewing, adding coffee grounds to the appropriate filter.
- Add Water: Fill the corresponding water reservoir with fresh, cold water. Note: The amount of water should be less than for hot coffee to account for ice melt. Refer to the user manual for specific water-to-ice ratios.
- Select Iced Coffee Setting: On the intuitive touch display, select the 'Iced Coffee' icon (snowflake/ice cubes).
- Start Brewing: Press the power button to begin brewing. The coffee will brew directly over the ice.
- Stir and Serve: Once brewing is complete, stir the iced coffee and serve immediately.
Programming Auto Brew:
- Prepare Coffee: Load coffee grounds and water as described for either Carafe or Single Serve brewing.
- Set Auto Time: Press the 'Auto' button (clock with 'A'). The display will flash. Use the clock/timer buttons to set your desired brew time.
- Confirm: Press the 'Auto' button again to confirm. The 'Auto' indicator will illuminate.
- Enjoy: Your coffee maker will automatically start brewing at the programmed time.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffee maker.
Daily Cleaning:
- Carafe and Lid: Wash the glass carafe and lid in hot, soapy water or in the dishwasher (top rack only).
- Brew Baskets & Mesh Scoop: Remove and rinse the carafe brew basket and single-serve mesh scoop after each use. Wash in hot, soapy water.
- Wipe Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker, warming plate, and control panel with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
Descaling (Monthly or as needed):
Mineral deposits from water can build up over time, affecting performance. Descale your coffee maker regularly.
- Prepare Solution: Fill the carafe water reservoir with 1 cup of white vinegar and 2 cups of cold water.
- Run Cycle: Place an empty paper filter in the carafe brew basket and the empty carafe on the warming plate. Run a full brew cycle.
- Soak: After the cycle, let the coffee maker sit for 20-30 minutes with the vinegar solution inside.
- Rinse Cycles: Discard the vinegar solution. Run 2-3 full brew cycles with only fresh, cold water to rinse thoroughly.
- Repeat for Single Serve: Repeat the descaling process for the single-serve side using a smaller proportion of vinegar and water, ensuring the reservoir is filled to the MAX line.
