Maintenance

Cleaning Your Keyboard

To maintain the performance and appearance of your TH99 keyboard, regular cleaning is recommended:

  • Disconnect the keyboard from your device before cleaning.
  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or a mild cleaning solution to wipe down the keycaps and chassis.
  • For dust and debris between keys, use compressed air or a small brush.
  • Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, as these can damage the keycaps or finish.

Hot-Swappable Switches and Keycaps

The TH99 keyboard features hot-swappable sockets, allowing you to easily change mechanical switches (3-pin or 5-pin) and keycaps without soldering. This provides flexibility for customization and repair.

  1. Removing Keycaps: Use the provided keycap puller to gently grip and lift the keycap straight up.
  2. Removing Switches: Use the provided switch puller. Align the prongs of the puller with the two clips on the top and bottom of the switch. Squeeze the clips and gently pull the switch straight up.
  3. Installing Switches: Ensure the pins on the new switch are straight. Align the switch with the hot-swap socket on the PCB and press down firmly until it clicks into place. Do not force the switch if it doesn't go in smoothly; check pin alignment.
  4. Installing Keycaps: Align the keycap with the switch stem and press down firmly until it is seated.
