Care and Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe down your guitar regularly with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and fingerprints. For the body, a guitar-specific polish can be used.
  • String Replacement: Replace strings every few months or as needed, depending on usage. Old strings can affect tone and playability.
  • Humidity Control: Store your guitar in an environment with stable humidity to prevent wood warping or cracking.
  • Storage: When not in use, store your guitar in a case or on a stand to protect it from accidental damage.
  • Fretboard Care: Periodically clean and condition the laurel wood fretboard with a suitable fretboard oil to prevent drying.

Troubleshooting

  • No Sound: Check all cable connections (guitar to amplifier). Ensure the amplifier is on and volume is up. Verify the guitar's volume knob is turned up and the pickup selector switch is engaged.
  • Buzzing Strings: This can be caused by low action (strings too close to frets), uneven frets, or a loose truss rod. Adjusting the bridge saddles or truss rod may resolve this. If unsure, consult a professional.
  • Poor Tuning Stability: Ensure tuning pegs are securely tightened. Check if strings are properly wound around the posts. A worn nut can also cause tuning issues.
  • Scratchy Pots/Switches: Dust or dirt can accumulate in the potentiometers (pots) or switches. A specialized electronic contact cleaner can be used, but apply sparingly.
