Setup and Installation

Professional installation is recommended for optimal safety and performance.

1. Mounting the Fixture

Ensure the mounting surface is stable and can support the weight of the fixture. Follow standard electrical wiring practices for outdoor lighting. Turn off power at the circuit breaker before beginning installation.

2. Wiring

Connect the light fixture's wires to your household wiring according to local electrical codes. Typically, this involves connecting the black wire to live, the white wire to neutral, and the green/bare copper wire to ground. Use appropriate wire connectors and ensure all connections are secure and weatherproof.

3. Adjusting Light Heads and Sensor

The light heads and motion sensor are highly adjustable to provide optimal coverage and detection.

  • Beam Angle Adjustment: Each light head can be adjusted from a narrow 30° beam to a wide 80° beam. To adjust, gently slide the front part of the light head in or out. A narrower beam projects light farther, ideal for pathways, while a wider beam provides broad coverage for open areas.
  • Light Head Direction: The light heads can be rotated up to 320° horizontally and 120° vertically to direct illumination precisely where needed.
  • Sensor Adjustment: The motion sensor can be rotated 140° horizontally and 170° vertically to optimize its detection area.

Operating Instructions

The LEONLITE security light features an intelligent PIR motion sensor for automated operation.

1. Motion Sensor Modes

The light operates in a PIR sensor mode, activating only when motion is detected at night. This ensures energy efficiency and convenience.

Figure 6: The motion sensor offers a detection range of 13-45 feet and a 150° detection angle.

2. Time and Sensitivity Settings

The sensor unit has controls to adjust the duration the light stays on after motion is detected and the sensitivity of the motion sensor.

  • TIME Setting: Adjust the delay duration to 30 seconds, 60 seconds, or 120 seconds. This determines how long the light remains illuminated after motion ceases.
  • SENSITIVITY Setting: Adjust the motion detection range from 13 feet to 45 feet. This allows you to fine-tune the sensor's responsiveness to avoid unwanted activations.

Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your LEONLITE LED Security Light, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the light fixture with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as they may damage the finish or electrical components.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect the fixture for any signs of damage, loose wiring, or wear. If any issues are found, disconnect power and consult a qualified electrician for repair.
  • Sensor Lens: Keep the motion sensor lens clean and free from obstructions (e.g., dirt, spiderwebs) to ensure accurate detection.

Troubleshooting

If you experience issues with your security light, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Light does not turn on at night. No power; Sensor sensitivity too low; Obstruction in sensor's view.Check power supply; Increase sensor sensitivity; Clear obstructions from sensor lens.
Light stays on continuously.Sensor detecting constant motion; Wiring issue; Sensor malfunction.Adjust sensor angle to avoid constant motion sources; Check wiring; Contact support if sensor is faulty.
Light turns on during the day.Sensor malfunction or incorrect setting.Ensure the light sensor is not obstructed and is functioning correctly. The light is designed to activate only at night.
Detection range is too short/long.Sensor sensitivity setting.Adjust the SENSITIVITY dial on the sensor unit.
