1. Introduction

2. Important Safety Instructions

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons, including the following:

  • Read all instructions.
  • Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
  • To protect against fire, electric shock, and injury to persons, do not immerse cord, plugs, or appliance in water or other liquid.
  • Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
  • Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
  • Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair, or adjustment.
  • The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
  • Do not use outdoors.
  • Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
  • Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
  • Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to “off,” then remove plug from wall outlet.
  • Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
  • Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during the brewing cycles.

4. Setup

Follow these steps for initial setup:

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove all packaging materials and ensure all components are present.
  2. Initial Cleaning: Wash the water tank, milk container, and drip tray with warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth.
  3. Fill Water Tank: Fill the 1.8L water tank with fresh, cold water up to the MAX line. Insert it securely into the machine.
  4. Add Coffee Beans: Open the bean hopper lid and pour whole coffee beans into the hopper. Close the lid.
  5. Connect Milk Container: If preparing milk-based drinks, fill the milk container with your desired milk (dairy or plant-based) and connect the milk tube to the machine's milk frothing system. Ensure the container is properly sealed.
  6. Power On: Plug the machine into a grounded electrical outlet. Press the power button to turn on the machine. The machine will perform an automatic rinsing cycle.

5. Operating Instructions

Your Kenmore coffee maker offers a variety of one-touch options and customizable settings.

5.1 Using the Touch Display

The full-color touch display provides easy navigation and selection of your desired beverages. Icons represent different drink types and settings.

5.2 Brewing Coffee and Espresso

  1. Place a cup under the adjustable spout. Adjust the spout height to fit your cup.
  2. Select your desired drink from the touch display (e.g., Espresso, Coffee, Americano).
  3. The machine will automatically grind the beans (if using whole beans) and brew your selection.

5.3 Using Pre-Ground Coffee

If you prefer to use pre-ground coffee, use the bypass chute:

  1. Open the bypass chute cover.
  2. Add one scoop of pre-ground coffee into the chute. Do not overfill.
  3. Select your desired drink. The machine will bypass the grinder and use the pre-ground coffee.

5.4 Milk Frothing and Milk-Based Drinks

The integrated milk frother creates silky-smooth foam for cappuccinos, lattes, and macchiatos.

  1. Ensure the milk container is filled with milk and properly connected.
  2. Place your cup under the spout.
  3. Select a milk-based drink (e.g., Latte Macchiato, Cappuccino, Milk Froth).
  4. The machine will automatically froth and dispense milk, then brew coffee if applicable.

5.5 Customizing Drink Settings

You can personalize your beverages using the touch display:

  • Drink Size: Adjust the volume of your coffee.
  • Coffee Strength: Select from various intensity levels.

  • Temperature: Adjust the brewing temperature.

6. Cleaning and Maintenance

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and longevity of your coffee maker.

6.1 Daily Cleaning

  • Drip Tray: Empty and rinse the drip tray daily.
  • Milk System: After each use of the milk frother, run the automatic cleaning cycle for the milk system to prevent blockages. The detachable milk container can be stored in the refrigerator.

6.2 Weekly/Monthly Cleaning

  • Brewing Unit: The brewing unit is removable. Follow the instructions in the display to remove it, rinse under running water, and allow it to air dry before reinserting.
  • Water Tank: Clean the water tank thoroughly with warm soapy water.
  • Coffee Grounds Container: Empty and clean the coffee grounds container regularly.

6.3 Descaling

The machine features a built-in descaler and an automatic rinsing cycle. The display will prompt you when descaling is required. Follow the on-screen instructions for the descaling process. Use only descaling solutions recommended for espresso machines.
