Safety Information

Always follow these basic safety precautions when operating your natural gas grill:

  • Outdoor Use Only: This grill is designed for outdoor use only. Do not operate indoors or in enclosed spaces.
  • Gas Connection: Ensure all gas connections are tight and leak-free before each use. Use only natural gas; do not attempt to connect to propane or other fuel sources.
  • Clearance: Maintain adequate clearance from combustible materials. Refer to assembly instructions for specific distances.
  • Supervision: Never leave a lit grill unattended. Keep children and pets away from the grill.
  • Grease Fires: In case of a grease fire, turn off the gas supply immediately and keep the lid open. Do not use water to extinguish a grease fire.
  • Hot Surfaces: Grill surfaces become extremely hot during operation. Use heat-resistant gloves and appropriate tools.
  • Ventilation: Ensure proper ventilation around the grill.

Setup

1. Assembly

The Weber SPIRIT EP-425 grill requires assembly. Follow the detailed instructions provided in the separate assembly guide. Ensure all components are securely fastened before proceeding.

  • Tools Required: Basic hand tools are typically sufficient for assembly.
  • Assistance: Assembly may require two people due to the size and weight of components.
  • Casters: Ensure the heavy-duty locking casters are properly installed and locked when the grill is in its desired position.

2. Natural Gas Connection

This grill is designed exclusively for natural gas. It must be connected to a plumbed natural gas supply line. Do not attempt to convert this grill for use with liquid propane or any other fuel type.

  1. Ensure the natural gas supply valve is in the OFF position.
  2. Connect the grill's flexible natural gas hose to your home's natural gas supply line. Use appropriate tools to ensure a secure, leak-free connection.
  3. Perform a leak test: Apply a soapy water solution to all gas connections. Open the gas supply valve. If bubbles appear, there is a leak. Close the gas valve immediately and tighten connections. Repeat until no bubbles are present.
  4. Never use an open flame to check for gas leaks.

Operating Instructions

1. Ignition

  1. Open the grill lid before lighting any burners.
  2. Ensure all burner control knobs are in the OFF position.
  3. Open the natural gas supply valve.
  4. Push and turn the control knob for the desired burner to the START/HIGH position.
  5. Press and hold the Snap-Jet Ignition button until the burner ignites. You should hear a clicking sound and see a flame.
  6. If the burner does not ignite within 5 seconds, turn the control knob to OFF, wait 5 minutes for gas to dissipate, and repeat the ignition process.
  7. Once the first burner is lit, you can light adjacent burners by turning their control knobs to the desired setting.

2. Temperature Control and Sear Zone

The grill features precise temperature control and a dedicated Sear Zone for high-heat cooking.

  • Standard Cooking: Adjust individual burner control knobs to achieve desired temperatures. The digital thermometer provides an accurate reading of the internal grill temperature.
  • Sear Zone: To activate the Sear Zone, turn the dedicated red Boost Burner knobs to their highest setting. This provides concentrated high heat for searing meats, creating flavorful crusts.

2. Grease Management System

The grill features a grease management system with stainless steel Flavorizer Bars, a large drip pan, and a removable grease tray. Regularly inspect and clean these components to prevent flare-ups and maintain grill performance.

  • Flavorizer Bars: Scrape off any accumulated grease or food particles.
