Product Overview

The GMKtec K11 Mini PC is a high-performance desktop computer designed for gaming, content creation, and professional tasks. It features an AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS processor, DDR5 RAM, and PCIe 4.0 SSD storage.

Setup and Initial Use

Connecting Peripherals

Connect your monitor(s) to the HDMI, DisplayPort, or USB4 ports. Connect your keyboard, mouse, and other USB devices to the available USB ports.

Powering On

Connect the power adapter to the DC IN port on the rear panel and then to a power outlet. Press the power button on the front panel to turn on the Mini PC.

Operating System Setup

The GMKtec K11 comes with Windows 11 Pro pre-installed. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the initial setup of the operating system.

Operating the Mini PC

Performance Modes

The K11 Mini PC features three performance modes accessible via the UEFI (BIOS) settings:

GMKtec K11 performance modes: Silent, Balance, Performance

  • Silent Mode (35W TDP): Optimized for quiet operation and energy efficiency.

  • Performance Mode (65-70W TDP): Maximizes CPU performance for demanding tasks.

Multi-Display Setup

The K11 supports up to four 4K displays simultaneously via HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 2.1, and dual USB4 ports.

Network Connectivity

The Mini PC is equipped with dual Intel i226V 2.5 Gigabit LAN ports, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.2 for robust network and wireless connections.

Oculink Connectivity

The Oculink port provides a high-bandwidth PCIe x4 connection for external graphics cards (eGPU setups), offering enhanced graphics performance for gaming and demanding applications.

Attention: The Oculink interface does not support hot-swapping. Please plug and unplug this interface only when the PC is powered off.

Maintenance and Upgrades

Accessing Internal Components

To upgrade RAM or SSD, you will need to open the Mini PC. Follow the steps shown in the video below:

This video demonstrates how to open the GMKtec K11 Mini PC, remove the top cover, unscrew the internal components, and access the SSD and RAM slots for upgrades. It also shows the thermal paste application process.

RAM Upgrade

The K11 supports up to 64GB of DDR5 5600MHz SO-DIMM RAM across two slots (max 32GB per slot).

SSD Upgrade

The Mini PC supports two PCIe 4.0 M.2 2280 SSDs, with a maximum capacity of 4TB per slot (total 8TB).

Troubleshooting

No Power

  • Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to both the Mini PC and a working power outlet.
  • Check if the power button illuminates when pressed.
  • Try a different power outlet.

No Display

  • Verify that the monitor is powered on and the correct input source is selected.
  • Check all display cable connections (HDMI, DisplayPort, USB4).
  • Try connecting to a different display port or a different monitor.

System Slowdown

  • Check the performance mode settings in the BIOS.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation around the Mini PC to prevent overheating.
  • Close unnecessary applications running in the background.
  • Consider upgrading RAM or SSD if performance issues persist.
