4. Installation Guide

This post kit is designed for direct burial. The required bury depth ranges from 24 inches to 36 inches, depending on the specific fence panel used and local frost line requirements. Always ensure the post is plumb and level during installation.

  1. Prepare the Site: Mark the locations for each fence post according to your fence layout. Ensure proper spacing for your chosen fence panels.
  2. Dig Post Holes: Dig holes to the appropriate depth (24-36 inches) and width, typically 8-10 inches in diameter, to allow for concrete backfill.
  3. Set the Post: Place the aluminum post into the hole. Ensure the post cap is securely fitted.
  4. Level and Plumb: Use a level to ensure the post is perfectly vertical (plumb) and at the correct height relative to other posts. Temporarily brace the post if necessary.
  5. Pour Concrete: Fill the hole with concrete mix, ensuring it is properly mixed and free of air pockets. Slope the top of the concrete away from the post to shed water.
  6. Cure Time: Allow the concrete to cure completely according to the concrete manufacturer's instructions before attaching fence panels or applying significant load.
  7. Attach Panels: Once posts are secure, attach your Deckorators aluminum fence panels (sold separately) to the posts. These posts are universal blank posts, designed for mounting without the need for pre-punched holes, offering flexibility in panel attachment.

6. Maintenance

Deckorators aluminum fence posts are designed for low maintenance. To keep your fence looking its best:

  • Regular Cleaning: Periodically wash the posts with mild soap and water to remove dirt, dust, and environmental buildup. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
  • Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the powder-coated finish.
  • Inspect for Damage: Annually inspect posts for any signs of damage, such as scratches, dents, or loose connections. Address any issues promptly to prevent further deterioration.

7. Troubleshooting

Most issues with aluminum fence posts are related to installation or external factors. Here are some common concerns and solutions:

  • Loose Post: If a post becomes loose, it may indicate insufficient concrete or improper curing. Re-evaluate the concrete foundation and reinforce if necessary. Ensure proper drainage around the base.
  • Scratches/Chips in Finish: Minor scratches can sometimes be touched up with a compatible exterior-grade paint. For significant damage, consult with Deckorators customer support.
  • Panel Alignment Issues: Ensure all posts are plumb and at the correct height. Adjust panel brackets or connections as needed.

For persistent issues, contact Deckorators customer support.
