3. Operation

Once installed and powered on, the AQQA AQ070 filter will begin its multi-functional operation:

  • Filtration: Water is drawn into the filter, passing through the activated carbon sponge and ceramic bio-balls to remove debris, odors, and harmful substances.
  • Oxygenation: The filter includes an air intake feature to introduce oxygen into the water, crucial for fish health. Adjust the air drain plug to control the amount of air bubbles.
  • Wave-Making/Water Circulation: The adjustable outlet creates gentle water movement, mimicking natural currents and ensuring even water distribution throughout the aquarium.
  • Rain Shower: If the rain shower kit is installed, water will gently cascade back into the tank, promoting gas exchange and providing a calming effect.

4. Maintenance

Regular maintenance is essential for the longevity and efficient operation of your filter. It is recommended to clean the filter monthly.

  1. Disconnect Power: Always unplug the filter from the power outlet before performing any maintenance.
  2. Remove Filter from Tank: Carefully detach the filter from the aquarium wall.
  3. Disassemble Filter: The filter is designed for tool-free disassembly. Gently separate the pump unit from the filter housing and remove the filter media.
  4. Clean Filter Media: Rinse the activated carbon sponge and ceramic bio-balls with old aquarium water (not tap water, as chlorine can harm beneficial bacteria). Replace filter media as needed, typically every 1-3 months depending on tank conditions and stocking levels.
  5. Clean Pump Impeller: Access the pump impeller by detaching the pump cover. Clean the impeller and its housing to remove any debris or buildup that could cause noise or reduced performance.
  6. Reassemble and Reinstall: Put all components back together, ensuring a secure fit. Reattach the filter to the aquarium wall and ensure it is fully submerged before plugging it back in.
