Setup and Wearing Instructions

Follow these steps to properly set up and wear your Mabē Monarch carrier:

1. Adjusting the Seat Width (for Newborns/Smaller Infants)

For infants weighing 7-12 lbs or those with shorter legs, adjust the seat to its narrowest setting. Locate the Velcro panel inside the waistband. Ensure the square Velcro is flat and push the fabric inward to narrow the seat. Secure the Velcro firmly.

2. Wearing the Waistband

Fasten the waistband around your natural waist, ensuring it is high and snug. You should be able to slide your fingers in, but not turn them. This high placement helps distribute the baby's weight to your hips, reducing strain on your back.

3. Placing Your Baby In

With the waistband secured, hold your baby against your chest. Gently guide their legs through the leg openings of the carrier's body panel. Ensure the fabric is pulled up over their back to provide full support.

4. Adjusting Shoulder Straps

Throw one shoulder strap over your shoulder, then switch hands to support the baby while you bring the other strap over the opposite shoulder. Cross the straps at your back, ensuring they lie flat and do not cut into your neck. Buckle the straps securely and tighten them until the baby is high enough to be easily kissable and visible, with their chin off their chest.

Operating the Carrier: Carry Positions

The Mabē Monarch offers three ergonomic carry positions for babies from 7 to 35 lbs:

1. Front Facing In: Suitable for newborns (7+ lbs) and up. Baby faces towards the wearer's chest. This position promotes bonding and is ideal for younger infants.
2. Front Facing Out: Suitable for babies 6+ months who have strong head and neck control. Baby faces outwards to observe their surroundings.
3. Back Carry: Suitable for babies 6+ months who can sit unassisted. Baby is carried on the wearer's back.

Head Support and Privacy Flap

The carrier features a head support flap that can be used for additional head support for smaller babies, especially when sleeping, or for privacy during breastfeeding. You can use the snaps on the inside to secure it, or simply fold it up. When using the flap, ensure baby's airway remains unobstructed.

Maintenance and Storage

Cleaning Instructions

The Mabē Monarch carrier is designed for easy care:

• Spot treat when possible for minor spills.
• For a thorough clean, machine wash in a garment bag on a cold, gentle cycle.
• Lay flat to dry to maintain its sleek structure and prevent damage.
• Do not bleach, iron, or dry clean.

Folding for Storage

To fold your carrier compactly for storage or travel:

1. Clip the waistband together, leaving some slack in the strap.
2. Fold the waistband into thirds.
3. Fold the main body panel into thirds in the opposite direction, ensuring buckles point outwards.
4. Cross the shoulder straps and fold them parallel to each other around the carrier.
5. Clip the shoulder straps into the waistband buckle and tighten to secure.
6. Roll up any excess strap length or tuck it in.

Troubleshooting

• Baby feels too low/not kissable: Tighten the shoulder straps by pulling the excess strap downwards. Ensure the waistband is worn high on your natural waist.
• Baby's legs are not in "M" position: Ensure the seat width is correctly adjusted for your baby's size. Gently spread baby's legs to form the "M" shape with knees higher than their bottom.
• Shoulder straps dig into neck: Ensure the shoulder straps are crossed low on your back, not high on your neck. Adjust the straps to lie flat across your shoulders.
• Discomfort for wearer: Re-adjust the waistband to be high and snug. Ensure shoulder straps are evenly tightened and not twisted.
• Baby seems too hot: The carrier is made of breathable cotton. Ensure baby is not overdressed. Consider using the carrier in cooler parts of the day if temperatures are extreme.
