1. Introduction

The Kinderkraft COMFORT UP i-Size car seat is designed for children with a height range of 76 to 150 cm, approximately from 15 months to 12 years of age, or weighing 9-36 kg according to previous regulations. This car seat complies with the latest R129 i-Size standard and has successfully passed all impact tests, ensuring optimal safety for your child.

Its versatile design allows for installation in vehicles without ISOFIX, using the car's 3-point seat belt with convenient guides. The COMFORT UP i-Size incorporates practical features like the EASY GROW SYSTEM, which enables simultaneous adjustment of the headrest and harness across 11 different positions. 4. Setup and Installation

4.1. Car Seat Installation (76-150 cm)

The COMFORT UP i-Size car seat is installed using the vehicle's 3-point seat belt. It does not require ISOFIX, making it versatile for various car models.

  1. Place the car seat on the vehicle's seat, ensuring it is stable and flush against the backrest.
  2. Thread the vehicle's 3-point seat belt through the designated belt guides on the car seat. These guides are typically colored for easy identification (e.g., green).
  3. Buckle the seat belt securely.
  4. Pull the seat belt tight to remove any slack, ensuring the car seat is firmly secured and does not move excessively.

4.2. Adjusting for Child's Growth (EASY GROW SYSTEM)

The car seat is designed to grow with your child, accommodating them from 76 cm (approx. 15 months) up to 150 cm (approx. 12 years).

  • Headrest and Harness Adjustment: The EASY GROW SYSTEM allows you to adjust the headrest and the 5-point internal harness simultaneously. There are 11 different height positions. To adjust, locate the adjustment lever (usually at the back or top of the headrest) and pull it up or push it down to the desired height. Ensure the harness straps are at or just below the child's shoulders.
  • Modular Reducer: For smaller children, use the soft modular reducer insert to provide a snug and comfortable fit. Remove it as your child grows and no longer needs the extra support.

5.1. Securing Your Child

For children using the 5-point internal harness (typically up to a certain height/weight, refer to local regulations and product specifications):

  1. Press the red button on the buckle to release the harness.
  2. Use the elastic harness holders to keep the straps out of the way while placing your child in the seat.
  3. Place your child in the car seat.
  4. Bring the two buckle tongues together and insert them into the buckle until you hear a click.
  5. Pull the adjustment strap to tighten the harness, ensuring it is snug against your child's body without being too tight. You should not be able to pinch any slack in the harness straps at the shoulder.

5.2. Transitioning to Vehicle Seat Belt Use

When your child reaches the appropriate height and weight (typically around 100 cm or as per i-Size regulations), the internal 5-point harness can be stored, and your child will be secured using the vehicle's 3-point seat belt.

  1. Unbuckle the 5-point internal harness.
  2. The internal harness can be conveniently stored within the car seat itself without needing to be detached. Follow the instructions in the manual for specific storage compartments or methods.
  3. Position your child in the car seat.
  4. Route the vehicle's 3-point seat belt through the car seat's red belt guides (for upper belt) and under the armrests (for lap belt).
  5. Buckle the vehicle's seat belt and pull it tight, ensuring the lap belt is low on the child's hips and the shoulder belt crosses the center of the child's shoulder and chest.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and hygiene of your car seat.

  • Cleaning the Cover: The car seat features a removable cover for easy cleaning. Refer to the care label on the fabric for specific washing instructions. Typically, it can be hand-washed or machine-washed on a gentle cycle with mild detergent. Do not bleach, tumble dry, or iron.
  • Cleaning the Frame: Wipe the plastic and metal parts of the car seat frame with a damp cloth and mild soap. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Harness Cleaning: The harness straps can be wiped clean with a damp cloth. Avoid submerging the buckle in water, as this can affect its functionality.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the car seat in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
