5. Setup and Installation

The LINOVISION 4G LTE MIMO Combo 5-in-1 Antenna is designed for screw-mount installation on a flat surface, typically a roof or panel. Ensure the mounting location is clear of obstructions and provides optimal line-of-sight for signal reception.

Installation Steps:

  1. Prepare Mounting Surface: Choose a flat, stable surface for mounting. Ensure there is sufficient space underneath for cable routing and securing the antenna.
  2. Drill Mounting Hole: Drill a hole with a diameter of approximately 0.98 inches (25mm) at the chosen mounting location. This hole will accommodate the antenna's threaded base.
  3. Apply Adhesive (Optional but Recommended): For enhanced sealing and stability, apply the included 3M double-sided tape or a suitable sealant around the drilled hole on the mounting surface.
  4. Insert Antenna: Carefully insert the antenna's threaded base through the drilled hole from the top side of the mounting surface.
  5. Secure Antenna: From the underside of the mounting surface, thread the large nut onto the antenna's base and tighten it securely. Ensure the antenna is firmly seated and does not wobble.
  6. Connect Cables: Route the five cables to your compatible cellular router or device. Connect each cable to its corresponding port:
    • 2x SMA Male connectors for 4G LTE (Main and Aux)
    • 2x RP-SMA Male connectors for Wi-Fi (Main and Aux)
    • 1x SMA Male connector for GNSS
Ensure all connections are tight and secure.
Antenna Installation Steps Diagram

Figure 5.1: Antenna Installation Steps. This diagram visually guides the user through the four main steps of installing the antenna: drilling the hole, preparing the base, inserting the antenna, and securing it with the nut.

Note: For optimal performance, ensure the antenna is mounted in a location with a clear view of the sky for GNSS reception and minimal obstructions for LTE/Wi-Fi signals.

6. Operating Instructions

Once the LINOVISION 4G LTE MIMO Combo 5-in-1 Antenna is physically installed and all cables are securely connected to your compatible router or device, its operation is largely passive. The antenna will automatically begin receiving and transmitting signals for 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, and GNSS as soon as the connected device is powered on and configured.

General Operation:

  • Router Configuration: Refer to your specific cellular router's user manual for instructions on how to configure its WAN (LTE) and WLAN (Wi-Fi) settings to utilize external antennas. Ensure the router's antenna settings are correctly configured to use the external antenna ports.
  • Signal Strength Monitoring: Most compatible routers provide an interface to monitor signal strength (e.g., RSSI, RSRP, SINR for LTE). Use these metrics to verify optimal antenna placement and connection.
  • GNSS Functionality: The GNSS antenna provides location data to compatible devices. Ensure your device's GNSS/GPS features are enabled and configured to receive data from the external antenna.
  • Wi-Fi Extension: The Wi-Fi antennas extend the range and improve the performance of your router's Wi-Fi network.

No direct user interaction with the antenna itself is required after installation.

7. Maintenance

The LINOVISION 4G LTE MIMO Combo 5-in-1 Antenna is designed for minimal maintenance due to its robust construction and IP67 waterproof rating.

  • Regular Inspection: Periodically inspect the antenna and its cables for any visible signs of damage, wear, or loose connections. Ensure the mounting nut remains tight.
  • Cleaning: If the antenna becomes dirty, gently wipe it with a damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could damage the housing.
  • Connector Care: Ensure the cable connectors remain clean and free of corrosion. If disconnecting, protect the connectors from moisture and dirt.
  • Environmental Considerations: While the antenna is designed for extreme temperatures and humidity, prolonged exposure to severe conditions (e.g., direct lightning strikes, extreme physical impact) should be avoided if possible.

  • Verify the antenna has a clear line of sight to cellular towers.
  • Check your router's settings to ensure it's configured to use external antennas.
  • Test signal strength in different mounting locations if possible.
Weak Wi-Fi SignalLoose or incorrect Wi-Fi cable connection; Router Wi-Fi settings.
  • Ensure both Wi-Fi cables (Main and Aux) are securely connected to the correct RP-SMA ports on your router.
  • Verify router Wi-Fi settings are optimized for external antennas.
No GNSS/GPS SignalLoose or incorrect GNSS cable connection; Antenna obstruction; Device GNSS settings.
  • Ensure the GNSS cable is securely connected to the correct SMA port.
  • Verify the antenna has a clear view of the sky.
  • Check your device's GNSS/GPS settings to ensure external antenna use is enabled.
Antenna Not SecureMounting nut loose; Incorrect installation.
  • Retighten the mounting nut from the underside of the surface.
  • Review the installation steps in Section 5 to ensure proper mounting.
