Setup

  1. Battery Installation: Open the battery compartment on the back of the meter and insert 4 x 1.5V AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity. Close the compartment securely.
  2. Probe Connection: Connect the dissolved oxygen probe to the main meter unit using the provided connector. Ensure the connection is firm and secure.
  3. Electrolyte Preparation: Carefully open the electrolyte bottle. Using a pipettor, transfer the electrolyte into the probe's membrane cap. Ensure no air bubbles are trapped within the membrane cap.
  4. Probe Membrane Installation: Gently screw the probe cover (membrane cap) onto the probe, ensuring the membrane is intact and free from damage.
  5. Initial Power On: Press the SET button to power on the device.
  6. Calibration: Refer to the "Calibration" section for initial calibration procedures before first use to ensure accurate readings.

Operating Instructions

  1. Power On/Off: Press the SET button to turn the meter on or off.
  2. Measurement:
    • Immerse the dissolved oxygen probe into the sample water. Ensure the probe tip is fully submerged and free from air bubbles.
    • Allow a few moments for the reading to stabilize on the digital display.
    • The meter will display dissolved oxygen levels, typically in ppm (parts per million) or mg/L.
  3. Unit Switching: Use the MODE button to cycle through available measurement units if applicable (e.g., ppm, mg/L).
  4. Data Saving: After a stable reading, press the SAVE button to record the current data. The meter supports manual recording of up to 99 data points.
  5. Data Recall: Press the Recall button to view previously saved data. Use arrow buttons (if available) to navigate through records.
  6. Compensation Functions: The meter automatically applies temperature, salinity, and altitude compensation. Ensure these parameters are correctly set if manual adjustment options are available.
  7. Backlight: The high-definition backlight screen activates automatically or can be toggled using a specific button (refer to on-screen prompts if available).

Calibration

Regular calibration ensures the accuracy of your dissolved oxygen meter. It is recommended to calibrate before first use and periodically thereafter.

  1. Preparation: Ensure the probe is clean and the membrane is properly installed with fresh electrolyte.
  2. Access Calibration Mode: Press and hold the CAL/ESC button until the meter enters calibration mode. The display will show prompts.
  3. Air Calibration:
    • Hold the probe in the air (away from strong drafts) and allow the reading to stabilize. This calibrates for 100% air saturation.
    • Press Enter/TEST to confirm the air calibration.
  4. Zero Oxygen Calibration (Optional):
    • If a zero-oxygen solution is available (e.g., prepared with test reagents), immerse the probe into it.
    • Allow the reading to stabilize and press Enter/TEST to confirm.
  5. Exit Calibration: Press CAL/ESC to exit calibration mode.

Note: Specific calibration procedures may vary. Always refer to the on-screen prompts during calibration for precise instructions.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and accuracy of your Srliya AR8407 Dissolved Oxygen Meter.

  1. Probe Cleaning:
    • Regularly clean the probe tip and membrane with the provided cloth.
    • If deposits accumulate on metallic parts, gently use the sandpaper to clean them, taking care to avoid damage to the membrane.
    • Rinse the probe with distilled water after each use.
  2. Electrolyte Replacement: Replace the electrolyte solution in the probe membrane cap periodically, or if readings become unstable. Follow the electrolyte preparation steps in the "Setup" section.
  3. Membrane Inspection/Replacement: Inspect the probe membrane for damage, tears, or contamination. Replace the membrane if necessary, following the instructions for membrane installation.
  4. Battery Replacement: When the low battery indicator appears on the display, replace the 4 x 1.5V AAA batteries.
  5. Storage: Store the meter and probe in the provided storage box in a cool, dry place when not in use. Ensure the probe cap is on to protect the membrane.
