1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your EKAT Android Car Radio. This unit is designed for Jeep Renegade models from 2015 to 2020, featuring a 9-inch touchscreen, Android 13 operating system, 4GB RAM, and 64GB ROM.

2. Setup and Installation

2.1 Package Contents

Before beginning installation, verify that all components are present:

  • Car radio unit
  • Installation Cable
  • Rear Camera
  • GPS Antenna
  • Canbus decoder
  • Instruction manual

  • Original USB Cable

2.2 Compatibility Check

Ensure your vehicle's central console and rear interface match the compatible configurations shown below. If your original vehicle's connector resembles the one in Figure 2.2, it is compatible. The wiring harness supports the original factory rear view camera. The yellow headrest wire is the connection interface.

2.3 General Installation Steps

  1. Carefully remove your vehicle's original radio unit and trim.
  2. Connect the provided wiring harness to the vehicle's existing wiring. Ensure all connections are secure.
  3. Connect the GPS antenna, radio antenna, and any other peripheral cables (e.g., USB, external microphone) to the new EKAT Android Car Radio.
  4. If installing the rear view camera, route the camera cable to the rear of the vehicle and connect it to the designated input on the car radio.
  5. Mount the new car radio unit into the dashboard opening.
  6. Reinstall any removed trim pieces.
  7. Test the unit's functionality before fully securing all components.

2.4 Rear View Camera Wiring

Follow these steps for connecting the AHD rear view camera:

  • Red Cable (1): Connect to the positive pole of the car reversing light cable.
  • Black Cable (2): Connect to the negative pole of the car reversing light cable.
  • The other two red extension cables (3) and (4) do not need to be connected.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Power On/Off and Basic Navigation

Press the power button to turn the unit on or off. The 9-inch touchscreen allows for intuitive navigation through menus and applications. Swipe gestures and taps are used for control.

3.2 Wireless/Wired Carplay & Android Auto

The unit supports both wireless and wired connections for Apple Carplay and Android Auto. This allows seamless integration with your smartphone for navigation, calls, messages, and music playback. Voice control is available for a safer driving experience.

3.3 GPS Navigation and WiFi

The car radio has built-in GPS navigation. You can download offline maps for use without an internet connection or connect to WiFi to use online maps and other internet-dependent applications. Connect to a WiFi hotspot from your phone or a dedicated car WiFi device.

3.4 Audio Features: EQ and DSP

The unit includes a built-in 32-band equalizer (EQ) for audio customization. It also features AI DSP (Digital Signal Processor) technology, which requires activation, to optimize sound quality and eliminate unwanted noise, providing a concert-like audio experience.

3.5 Split Screen Functionality

The split-screen feature allows you to run two applications simultaneously on the display. You can customize the size and position of each application window.

3.6 Rear View Camera

When the vehicle is shifted into reverse gear, the car stereo automatically displays the AHD reverse camera feed. This provides a clear image with guidelines and night vision capabilities to assist with parking.

3.9 Retaining Factory Car Features

4. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your EKAT Android Car Radio, follow these general maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the touchscreen and exterior. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Software Updates: Periodically check for available software updates to ensure the system runs efficiently and has the latest features.
  • Temperature: Avoid exposing the unit to extreme temperatures, both hot and cold, for extended periods.
  • Connections: Ensure all cables and connections remain secure. Loose connections can lead to intermittent issues.

5. Troubleshooting

5.1 Odometer Flashing Issue

If you experience an odometer flashing issue after installing the radio (which may occur in some vehicles), follow these steps to resolve it:

  1. Go to Settings on the car radio.
  2. Select Factory Mode.
  3. Enter the password: 8888.
  4. Navigate to Vehicle, then Automotive Type.
  5. Select Rasie+Jeep+Renegade+High.
  6. Start the engine for 1 minute, then lock the vehicle for 10 minutes to allow it to enter sleep mode.
  7. Restart the engine.
  8. If the flashing persists, repeat steps 1-6, but select Low instead of High in step 5.

5.2 General Troubleshooting Tips

  • No Power: Check all power connections and fuses. Ensure the vehicle's ignition is on.
  • No Sound: Verify speaker connections, volume settings, and audio source selection. Check if the mute function is active.
  • Touchscreen Unresponsive: Try restarting the unit. If the issue persists, a factory reset might be necessary (consult support).
  • GPS Signal Issues: Ensure the GPS antenna is properly installed and has a clear view of the sky.
  • Bluetooth Connectivity Problems: Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on both the car radio and your mobile device. Try unpairing and re-pairing the devices.
