5. Setup and Installation
Follow these steps to replace your old thermostat with the Riseem STN615:
- Step 1: Turn off power. Locate the main fuse or circuit breaker panel and turn off the power to your heating/cooling system.
- Step 2: Remove old thermostat. Carefully remove the old thermostat cover. Leave the wallplate with wires attached for now.
- Step 3: Label wires. Before disconnecting any wires, use the provided cable labels to clearly mark each wire according to its terminal on the old thermostat. This is crucial for correct installation.
- Step 4: Mount new wallplate. Remove the old wallplate. Mount the new Riseem STN615 wallplate to the wall using the included screws and anchors. Ensure it is level.
- Step 5: Connect wires. Match the labeled wires to the corresponding terminals on the new thermostat's wallplate. Push each wire firmly into its terminal.

Power Supply:
The Riseem STN615 thermostat can be powered by either a 24VAC power source (C-wire) or by 2 AAA alkaline batteries. A common wire (C-wire) is not required on most systems, but it is necessary for heat-only and cool-only systems. If a C-wire is available, the batteries provide a backup power source in case of an outage.

7. Programming
The STN615 features a 5-1-1 day programmable schedule, allowing you to set different temperature schedules for weekdays, Saturday, and Sunday. This helps optimize energy usage and comfort.
Key Programming Features:
- 5/1/1 Day Programming: Set distinct schedules for weekdays (Monday-Friday), Saturday, and Sunday.
- Adjustable Temperature Differential (Swing): Customize the temperature range before the system activates, optimizing energy use and system lifespan.
- Temperature Display Calibration: Adjust the displayed temperature to match an external reference thermometer if needed.
- °C/°F Conversion: Easily switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius temperature units.
- Compressor Delay Protection: A selectable on/off feature that protects your compressor from short cycling.
Refer to the included Operating Manual for detailed step-by-step instructions on setting the time, programming schedules, and adjusting advanced settings.
8. Maintenance
Battery Replacement:
The thermostat requires 2 AAA alkaline batteries for operation (if not using 24VAC power) or as a backup. A low battery indicator will appear on the display when batteries need to be replaced. To replace, open the front-load battery compartment and insert new batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
Cleaning:
Wipe the thermostat's exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
9. Troubleshooting
- No Display/No Power: Check if the power to the HVAC system is on. If using batteries, ensure they are new and correctly installed. If using 24VAC, verify the C-wire connection.
- System Not Responding: Ensure the SYSTEM switch is set to HEAT or COOL, not OFF. Check wiring connections. Allow for compressor delay protection if recently switched modes.
- Incorrect Temperature Reading: The thermostat may need calibration. Refer to the Operating Manual for temperature calibration instructions.
- Fan Not Running: Check the FAN switch setting. If set to AUTO, the fan will only run when heating or cooling is active. Set to ON for continuous operation.
- Programming Issues: Ensure the current time and day are set correctly. Review the programming steps in the Operating Manual.
