1. Introduction
The TESMEN TBF-300 is a professional brake fluid liquid tester designed to accurately measure the moisture content in DOT3, DOT4, and DOT5.1 brake fluids. Regular testing of brake fluid is crucial for vehicle safety, as excessive moisture can reduce braking efficiency and lead to system corrosion. This device features a corrosion-resistant gooseneck probe, a large display with data hold function, and an integrated flashlight for use in various conditions.

4.4 Interpreting Results
The display shows the percentage of water content in the brake fluid. General guidelines for interpretation are:
- 0% - 1% Moisture: Brake fluid is in good condition.
- 2% Moisture: Brake fluid is acceptable, but consider monitoring.
- 3% or More Moisture: Brake fluid should be replaced immediately.

Figure 5: The TESMEN TBF-300 tester's display showing a brake fluid moisture content of 1.2% with the 'HOLD' function active, indicating a good fluid condition (2% good, 0% good). A short press of the H/C button holds the current data.
4.5 Data Hold Function
To hold the current reading on the display, press the H/C button. Press it again to release the hold and resume live readings.
4.6 Flashlight Function
The device includes an integrated flashlight for testing in low-light or dark environments.
- To activate the flashlight, press the Lamp button.
- Press the button again to turn off the flashlight.

5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning the Probe
After each use, it is essential to clean the metal probe thoroughly to prevent contamination and ensure accurate future readings. Wipe the probe with a clean, dry cloth or paper towel. Do not use water or cleaning agents that could leave residue or damage the probe.
5.2 Storage
When not in use, store the TESMEN TBF-300 in its provided storage bag in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
6. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Device does not power on | Low or dead batteries; Incorrect battery installation | Replace batteries with new AAA 1.5V batteries; Ensure batteries are installed with correct polarity. |
| Inaccurate readings | Probe not fully submerged; Probe is dirty; Incorrect fluid type selected | Ensure probe tips are fully immersed in brake fluid; Clean the probe thoroughly; Verify the correct DOT type is selected on the device. |
