3. Setup Guide

The FOTN WiFi Extender offers two primary methods for setup: using the WPS button for quick connection or through a web browser for more detailed configuration.

3.1 WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) Method

  1. Plug In: Plug the FOTN WiFi Extender into an electrical outlet near your main router. Wait for the Power indicator light to turn solid.
  2. Press WPS on Router: Press the WPS button on your main Wi-Fi router. Refer to your router's manual for the exact location of its WPS button.
  3. Press WPS on Extender: Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on the FOTN WiFi Extender. The Signal indicator light on the extender will blink during the connection process.
  4. Verify Connection: Once connected, the Signal indicator light on the extender will turn solid, indicating a successful connection.
  5. Relocate Extender: You can now unplug the extender and move it to a location between your router and the Wi-Fi dead zone. Ensure the Signal indicator light remains solid or strong after relocation for optimal performance.

The WPS method allows for a quick and secure connection between your router and the extender with a simple press of a button on both devices.

3.2 Web Browser Method

  1. Plug In: Plug the FOTN WiFi Extender into an electrical outlet near your main router. Wait for the Power indicator light to turn solid.
  2. Connect to Extender's Wi-Fi: On your smartphone, tablet, or PC, connect to the Wi-Fi network broadcast by the extender (e.g., "FOTN_Extender" or similar). No password is required for the initial connection.
  3. Access Setup Page: Open a web browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, Safari) and enter the default IP address or domain name provided in the quick start guide (usually 192.168.10.1 or repeater.net).
  4. Log In: Enter the default username and password (usually admin for both).
  5. Select Mode: Choose "Repeater Mode" to extend your existing Wi-Fi network.
  6. Scan for Networks: The extender will scan for available Wi-Fi networks. Select your main router's Wi-Fi network from the list.
  7. Enter Password: Enter the Wi-Fi password for your main router's network.
  8. Configure Extender SSID (Optional): You can choose to keep the same network name (SSID) as your main router or create a new one for the extended network.
  9. Apply Settings: Click "Apply" or "Save" to finalize the settings. The extender will restart.
  10. Verify Connection: Once restarted, the Signal indicator light will turn solid, confirming a successful connection.
  11. Relocate Extender: You can now unplug the extender and move it to a location between your router and the Wi-Fi dead zone. Ensure the Signal indicator light remains solid or strong after relocation for optimal performance.

4.1 Connecting Devices

After successful setup, your FOTN WiFi Extender will broadcast an extended Wi-Fi network. You can connect your wireless devices (smartphones, laptops, tablets, smart TVs, gaming consoles, etc.) to this extended network just as you would to any other Wi-Fi network.

4.2 Wired Connection (WiFi Bridge)

The extender's RJ45 Ethernet port allows you to connect a wired device, such as a desktop computer, gaming console, or smart TV, to your extended network. This provides a stable and high-speed connection for devices without Wi-Fi capabilities or for those requiring maximum bandwidth.
