- Relocate Extender: You can now unplug the extender and move it to a location between your router and the Wi-Fi dead zone. Ensure the Signal indicator light remains solid or strong after relocation for optimal performance.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Connecting Devices
After successful setup, your FOTN WiFi Extender will broadcast an extended Wi-Fi network. You can connect your wireless devices (smartphones, laptops, tablets, smart TVs, gaming consoles, etc.) to this extended network just as you would to any other Wi-Fi network.
- Search for the extended network's SSID (network name) on your device.
- Enter the network password (if you set one, otherwise it's the same as your main router's password).
- Your device should now be connected to the extended network.

Figure 4: Wide Device Compatibility
The FOTN WiFi Extender supports connection for up to 50+ devices, including smartphones, laptops, gaming consoles, and smart home devices, ensuring comprehensive coverage for your digital ecosystem.
4.2 Wired Connection (WiFi Bridge)
The extender's RJ45 Ethernet port allows you to connect a wired device, such as a desktop computer, gaming console, or smart TV, to your extended network. This provides a stable and high-speed connection for devices without Wi-Fi capabilities or for those requiring maximum bandwidth.

Figure 5: WiFi Bridge Functionality
Utilize the Ethernet port to connect wired devices, effectively turning the extender into a WiFi bridge for stable network access.
4.3 Optimal Placement
For best performance, place the extender halfway between your router and the area with poor Wi-Fi signal. Avoid placing it near large metal objects, concrete walls, or other electronic devices that may cause interference.

Figure 6: Optimal Placement for Wide Coverage
Proper placement of the extender is crucial for maximizing its coverage area, which can extend up to 10,000 sq.ft., ensuring strong and stable signal penetration through walls.

The extender's design allows for strong signal penetration, helping to overcome obstacles like walls and floors.
5. Maintenance
- Regular Restart: Occasionally restarting the extender (unplugging and plugging back in) can help resolve minor connectivity issues and improve performance.
- Firmware Updates: Check the manufacturer's website periodically for firmware updates. Updating firmware can improve performance, add new features, and fix bugs.
- Cleaning: Keep the device clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners.
- Ventilation: Ensure the extender is placed in a well-ventilated area to prevent overheating.
6. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No Power Indicator Light | Extender is not plugged in or power outlet is faulty. | Ensure the extender is securely plugged into a working electrical outlet. Try a different outlet. |
| Cannot Connect to Extender's Wi-Fi | Extender is not broadcasting, or device is too far. | Ensure the extender is powered on. Move your device closer to the extender. Reset the extender and try setup again. |
| Poor Signal Strength from Extender | Extender is too far from the main router or interference. | Relocate the extender closer to your main router. Avoid obstacles like thick walls or large metal objects. Check for interference from other electronic devices. |
| Internet Access Issues After Setup | Incorrect Wi-Fi password entered during setup or router issues. | Verify the Wi-Fi password entered during setup. Restart both the extender and your main router. Ensure your main router has internet access. |
| WPS Connection Fails | WPS timeout or router WPS not enabled. | Ensure you press the WPS button on both devices within the 2-minute window. Check your router's settings to ensure WPS is enabled. Try the web browser setup method. |
| Forgot Extender's Login Password | Password lost. | Perform a factory reset on the extender (usually by pressing and holding the reset button with a pin for 5-10 seconds). This will revert settings to default, including the login password (admin/admin). |
