Connecting to Nintendo Switch:

The BattlerGC Pro Series offers two ways to connect to your Nintendo Switch:

  1. Using 2.4 GHz Wireless Dongle (Docked Mode): Insert the USB dongle into an available USB port on your Nintendo Switch dock. Set the switch on the back of the controller to 2.4 GHz mode. Hold the Home button for 5 seconds to pair. This method is ideal for playing while your Switch is docked.
  2. Using Bluetooth (Handheld or Docked Mode): Set the switch on the back of the controller to Bluetooth mode. On your Nintendo Switch, navigate to System Settings > Controllers and Sensors > Pair Pro Controller. Hold the Home button on the BattlerGC Pro for 5 seconds until the indicator lights flash, then release. The controller will appear in the Switch's pairing menu. Select it to complete the connection. Bluetooth mode is recommended for lower latency and use in handheld mode.

Connecting to PC:

To connect to a PC, you can use either the 2.4 GHz wireless dongle or a direct USB-C cable connection. For optimal performance and lower latency, a direct USB-C connection is recommended. Ensure your PC's Bluetooth is enabled if using Bluetooth mode.

Operating Instructions

The BattlerGC Pro Series controller is designed to provide an authentic GameCube experience with modern enhancements.

Analog Sticks and Triggers:

The Hall Effect analog sticks offer precise movement and are resistant to drift. The main analog stick features an octagonal gate for classic GameCube feel. The L and R triggers provide both analog input (for variable pressure) and a distinct digital click at the end of their travel, crucial for games that utilize both functions.

D-Pad and Face Buttons:

The D-pad incorporates integrated switches for a tactile and responsive feel. The A, B, X, Y face buttons are laid out in the traditional GameCube style, with the large A button for primary actions.

Programmable Back Buttons (P1/P2):

The two back buttons (P1 and P2) can be programmed to mimic any other button on the controller. Refer to the included quick start guide for detailed instructions on how to map these buttons. This feature allows for quick access to frequently used commands without repositioning your fingers.

Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your BattlerGC Pro Series controller, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the controller. For stubborn dirt, slightly dampen the cloth with water. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Storage: Store the controller in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Battery Care: The controller contains a Lithium Ion battery. Avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. For long-term storage, charge the battery to approximately 50% to prolong its lifespan.
  • Avoid Drops: While durable, dropping the controller can damage internal components. Handle with care.

Troubleshooting

Controller Not Pairing:

  • Ensure the controller is charged.
  • Verify the mode switch on the back of the controller is set correctly for your desired connection (2.4 GHz for dongle, BT for Bluetooth).
  • For 2.4 GHz connection, ensure the dongle is securely inserted into the console/PC.
  • For Bluetooth connection, ensure your device's Bluetooth is enabled and in pairing mode.
  • Try restarting the controller by holding the Home button for 10 seconds, then attempting to pair again.

Input Lag or Unresponsiveness:

  • Ensure the controller is within the 30-foot wireless range of the receiver/console.
  • Minimize interference from other wireless devices.
  • For PC, consider connecting directly via USB-C cable for the lowest latency.
  • Check the Retro Fighters website for any available firmware updates for your controller, as these can improve performance and address known issues.

Triggers Not Functioning Correctly on PC:

  • Some PC games or emulators may require specific driver installations or configuration.
  • A firmware update may be required to enable full trigger mapping on PC. Visit the Retro Fighters support page for the latest updates and instructions.
