1. Important Safety Instructions

3. Setup

  4. Fill the Container: The Tilswall Shark 800 features a side-fill design. You can easily add paint from the side without rotating the spray can, minimizing spillage and waste. Ensure the container is securely attached after filling.
  5. Adjust the 45° Paint Straw: The paint straw is designed at a 45° angle to maximize paint usage and minimize waste. Ensure it is positioned correctly to draw paint efficiently from the container.

4. Operation

Follow these steps for effective and consistent paint application.

  1. Power On: Plug the sprayer into a grounded electrical outlet.
  2. Adjust Spray Pattern: The sprayer can be adjusted to three different spray patterns: horizontal, vertical, and circular. Rotate the air cap to select the desired pattern for your project.
  3. Adjust Flow Control: Use the precision flow control dial to fine-tune the paint output. Start with a lower setting and gradually increase until you achieve the desired coverage and finish.
  4. Test Spray: Before spraying your actual project, always perform a test spray on a piece of scrap material (cardboard, wood, etc.) to check the spray pattern, flow rate, and atomization. Adjust as necessary.
  5. Spraying Technique:
    • Hold the sprayer perpendicular to the surface, maintaining a consistent distance (typically 6-12 inches).
    • Move the sprayer in smooth, even strokes, overlapping each pass by about 50%.
    • Release the trigger at the end of each pass to avoid paint buildup.
    • Apply multiple thin coats rather than one thick coat for a smoother, more durable finish.

5. Maintenance and Cleaning

Thorough cleaning after each use is crucial for the longevity and performance of your paint sprayer.

  1. Empty Remaining Paint: Pour any unused paint back into its original container.
  2. Initial Rinse: Fill the paint container with the appropriate cleaning solution (water for latex, mineral spirits for oil-based paints). Spray the cleaning solution through the sprayer into a waste container until it runs clear.
  3. Disassembly: Disconnect the power. Carefully disassemble the paint gun, including the nozzle, air cap, and paint container.
  4. Thorough Cleaning:
    • Clean all disassembled parts with the appropriate cleaning solution and the included cleaning brush and needle. Pay close attention to small passages and orifices to remove all paint residue.
