5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Grinding Coffee Beans

Image 5.1.1: The adjustable conical burr grinder and a diagram illustrating low-pressure pre-infusion.
- Select Grind Setting: The machine features 30 adjustable grind settings. Rotate the grind adjustment dial to select your desired fineness. Finer grinds (lower numbers) are suitable for espresso, while coarser grinds (higher numbers) are for other brewing methods. Start with a medium-fine setting (around 10-15) and adjust based on extraction time and taste.
- Prepare Portafilter: Insert either the 1-cup or 2-cup filter basket into the portafilter (sieve handle).
- Grind Coffee: Place the portafilter under the grinder outlet. Press the appropriate grind button (single or double) to dispense freshly ground coffee into the filter basket.
- Tamp Coffee: Use the tamper (6) to press the ground coffee firmly and evenly into the filter basket. Ensure the surface is level.

- Insert Portafilter: Insert the prepared portafilter into the brew head. Turn it firmly to the right until it is securely locked in place.
- Place Cup: Place your espresso cup(s) on the drip tray directly under the portafilter spouts.
- Select Brew: Press the "Single Cup" or "Double Cup" button on the control panel. The machine will initiate a low-pressure pre-infusion, followed by the 20-bar extraction.
- Monitor Extraction: Observe the pressure gauge during extraction. The needle should ideally be in the optimal range for best results.
- Enjoy: Once the desired volume is dispensed, the machine will stop automatically. Remove your cup(s) and enjoy your fresh espresso.

- Prepare Milk: Fill the milk pitcher (4) with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy) to just below the spout.
- Activate Steam: Turn the side knob to the "Steam" position. Wait for the machine to reach steaming temperature (indicator light will be steady).
- Purge Steam Wand: Briefly open the steam valve to release any condensed water. Close it immediately.
- Froth Milk: Immerse the tip of the steam wand just below the surface of the milk. Open the steam valve fully. Angle the pitcher to create a swirling motion.
- Monitor Temperature: Continue frothing until the milk reaches the desired temperature and texture. For lattes, aim for a silky microfoam; for cappuccinos, a thicker foam.
- Clean Steam Wand: Immediately after frothing, close the steam valve, wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth, and briefly open the valve again to clear any milk residue from the nozzle.

- Drip Tray: Empty and clean the removable drip tray daily. Wash with warm soapy water and rinse.

- Portafilter and Filter Baskets: After each use, remove spent coffee grounds, rinse the portafilter and filter basket under hot water. Use the cleaning brush (5) to remove any residue.
- Steam Wand: Always wipe the steam wand immediately after frothing milk and purge it to prevent milk residue buildup.
- Brew Head: Use a damp cloth to wipe the brew head screen and gasket.
6.2. Descaling
Descaling is essential to remove mineral buildup and should be performed regularly, depending on water hardness and usage (e.g., every 2-3 months).
- Prepare Descaling Solution: Mix a descaling solution (e.g., citric acid or commercial descaler) with water according to the product instructions. Pour into the water tank.
- Run Descaling Cycle: Place a large container under the brew head and steam wand. Run several cycles of hot water through the brew head and steam wand until the water tank is empty.
