4. Setup and Installation
4.1. Installation Location
Install the thermostat on an interior wall, approximately 1.5 meters (5 feet) from the floor. Avoid locations near heat sources (e.g., direct sunlight, lamps, appliances), drafts (e.g., windows, doors), or areas with poor air circulation.
4.2. Wiring
Important: Disconnect power to the heating system at the main circuit breaker before beginning any wiring. Incorrect wiring can cause damage to the thermostat or heating system, and may pose an electrical hazard.
This is a wired thermostat. Refer to the wiring diagram provided with the product packaging for specific connection points. Typically, connections involve live, neutral, and switched live terminals for both heating and hot water circuits. If you are unsure about wiring, consult a qualified electrician or heating engineer.
4.3. Initial Power-Up
Once wired and mounted, restore power to the heating system. The thermostat display should illuminate. The initial setup may require setting the current time and date.
5. Operating Instructions
The thermostat provides independent control for Hot Water and Heating. The controls are mirrored on the left (Hot Water) and right (Heating) sides of the device.
5.1. Setting Time and Date
To set the current time and date, press and hold the MODE button for approximately 3 seconds on either the Hot Water or Heating side. The display will enter time/date setting mode. Use the EXTRA HOUR and OVER RIDE buttons to adjust the values (e.g., hours, minutes, day, month, year). Press MODE again to move to the next setting or to save and exit.
5.2. Hot Water Control
Use the MODE button on the left side (under "HOT WATER") to cycle through the following operating modes:
- AUTO (Programmed): The hot water system operates according to the pre-set weekly program. This is the standard energy-saving mode.
- CONT (Continuous): The hot water system remains continuously on, overriding any programmed schedule.
- ONCE: The hot water system will turn on for a single programmed period, then revert to OFF or AUTO depending on the next scheduled event.
- OFF: The hot water system remains off, overriding any programmed schedule.
5.3. Heating Control
Use the MODE button on the right side (under "HEATING") to cycle through the following operating modes:
- AUTO (Programmed): The heating system operates according to the pre-set weekly program. This is the standard energy-saving mode.
- CONT (Continuous): The heating system remains continuously on, overriding any programmed schedule.
- ONCE: The heating system will turn on for a single programmed period, then revert to OFF or AUTO depending on the next scheduled event.
- OFF: The heating system remains off, overriding any programmed schedule.
5.4. Extra Hour Function
Press the EXTRA HOUR button (top circular button) on either the Hot Water or Heating side to temporarily extend the current ON period by one hour. This function is useful for short-term adjustments without altering the main program.
5.5. Override Function
Press the OVER RIDE button (bottom circular button) on either the Hot Water or Heating side to temporarily switch the system ON or OFF, overriding the current program until the next programmed event. This is useful for immediate changes to the schedule.
6. Maintenance
The TotalHome Room STAT Wired Digital Thermostat requires minimal maintenance.
- Cleaning: Wipe the thermostat's exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or chemical sprays, as these can damage the plastic and electronic components.
- No User-Serviceable Parts: There are no user-serviceable parts inside the thermostat. Do not attempt to open or repair the device yourself.
7. Troubleshooting
If you experience issues with your thermostat, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
