1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the SEBSON Recessed Ceiling Motion Detector. This device is designed for indoor use to automatically control lighting based on motion and ambient light levels. Please read this manual carefully before installation and operation to ensure proper function and safety.

2. Safety Instructions

  • Installation must be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with local wiring regulations.
  • Disconnect power at the main circuit breaker before installation or maintenance.
  • Do not exceed the maximum load capacity of the detector (2000W for incandescent, 1000W for LED).
  • This product is designed for indoor use only. Avoid exposure to moisture or extreme temperatures.
  • Ensure proper ventilation around the device.

5. Installation

Important: Ensure power is disconnected at the main circuit breaker before starting installation.

  1. Prepare a mounting hole in the ceiling with a diameter of 63-66 mm. Ensure there is sufficient depth (minimum 45 mm) for the detector.
  2. Connect the wiring according to the diagram below. The detector requires a 3-wire connection (Live, Neutral, Switched Live).
  3. Insert the detector into the prepared hole. The spring clips will secure it in place.
  4. Restore power and test the functionality.

6. Operating and Adjustments

The motion detector features two adjustable dials on the back for 'TIME' (duration) and 'LUX' (light sensitivity).

6.1. TIME Adjustment

The 'TIME' dial controls how long the connected light remains on after motion is detected and no further motion is sensed. Rotate the dial to set the desired duration:

  • 10s: Minimum duration (10 seconds).
  • 30min: Maximum duration (30 minutes).

6.2. LUX Adjustment

The 'LUX' dial determines the ambient light level at which the detector will activate. This allows the light to only turn on when it's dark enough.

  • 3: Activates only in very dark conditions (e.g., night).
  • 2000: Activates in all light conditions (day and night).

To set the LUX level, turn the dial to the sun symbol (2000 lux) for testing during daylight. Once satisfied with the detection, adjust the dial towards the moon symbol (3 lux) to the desired ambient light level for automatic operation.

6.3. Detection Range

The detector has a 360° detection angle and a maximum range of 8 meters. Optimal installation height is between 1.8m and 4m. Avoid installing near heat sources, direct sunlight, or areas with significant air movement (e.g., air conditioning vents) to prevent false triggers.

7. Maintenance

The SEBSON motion detector requires minimal maintenance. Ensure the sensor lens is kept clean and free from dust or obstructions. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

8. Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Light does not turn on.
  • No power supply.
  • LUX setting too low (too dark).
  • No motion detected within range.
  • Faulty wiring.
  • Check circuit breaker and connections.
  • Adjust LUX dial towards the sun symbol.
  • Ensure motion occurs within the detection zone.

Light stays on constantly.
  • Continuous motion in detection zone.
  • TIME setting too long.
  • Wiring error (e.g., switched live permanently connected).
  • Clear detection zone of constant movement.
  • Adjust TIME dial to a shorter duration.
  • Check wiring for correct connections.
Light turns on without apparent motion.
  • Heat sources (e.g., heater, direct sunlight).
  • Air currents (e.g., open window, AC vent).
  • Small animals.
  • Relocate detector or remove interfering objects.
  • Ensure stable environment.
  • Adjust sensitivity if possible (this model does not have explicit sensitivity adjustment, but careful placement can help).
