Figure 4.1: Multimeter Input Ports

  • Connect the black test lead to the COM (Common) input jack.
  • For most voltage, resistance, continuity, capacitance, diode, and frequency measurements, connect the red test lead to the VΩHzCAP input jack.
  • For current measurements up to 600mA, connect the red test lead to the µAmA input jack.
  • For current measurements up to 10A, connect the red test lead to the 10A input jack.

Caution: Always ensure test leads are connected to the correct input jacks for the desired measurement to prevent damage to the multimeter or personal injury.

5. Operating Instructions

The ZIBOO 17B PRO features a rotary dial for function selection and buttons for additional modes and features.

Video 5.1: ZIBOO 17B PRO True RMS Digital Multimeter Overview. This video provides a general overview of the ZIBOO 17B PRO True RMS Digital Multimeter, demonstrating its features and basic operation.

5.1 Basic Measurements

To perform a measurement:

  1. Turn the rotary dial to the desired measurement function (e.g., V~ for AC Voltage, V- for DC Voltage, Ω for Resistance).
  2. Connect the test leads to the appropriate input jacks as described in Section 4.2.
  3. Apply the test probes to the circuit or component to be measured.
  4. Read the measurement value on the display.

5.2 Specific Measurement Functions

AC/DC Voltage Measurement

Figure 5.2: Measuring AC Voltage

Turn the dial to V~ for AC voltage or V- for DC voltage. Connect the red lead to the VΩHzCAP jack and the black lead to the COM jack. Place the probes across the points where voltage is to be measured.

AC/DC Current Measurement

Figure 5.3: Measuring Current in a Panel

Turn the dial to µAmA or 10A depending on the expected current. Connect the red lead to the corresponding µAmA or 10A jack and the black lead to the COM jack. Insert the multimeter in series with the circuit to measure current.

Resistance Measurement

Turn the dial to Ω. Connect the red lead to the VΩHzCAP jack and the black lead to the COM jack. Place the probes across the component to measure its resistance. Ensure the circuit is de-energized before measuring resistance.

Capacitance Measurement

Turn the dial to CAP. Connect the red lead to the VΩHzCAP jack and the black lead to the COM jack. Place the probes across the capacitor. Ensure the capacitor is discharged before measurement.

Diode and Continuity Test

Turn the dial to the Diode/Continuity symbol. Connect the red lead to the VΩHzCAP jack and the black lead to the COM jack. For diode test, place probes across the diode. For continuity, place probes across the circuit; a buzzer will sound for continuity.

Non-Contact Voltage (NCV) Detection

Figure 5.4: NCV Detection

Turn the dial to NCV/LIVE. Bring the top of the multimeter near a live conductor. The device will indicate the presence of AC voltage through an audible beep and a flashing red LED.

Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) Measurement

Turn the dial to the VFD position. This mode allows for accurate voltage measurements on variable frequency drives, which often produce non-sinusoidal waveforms.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

To clean the multimeter, use a soft cloth dampened with mild detergent. Do not use abrasives or solvents. Ensure the device is completely dry before use.

6.2 Battery Replacement

Refer to Section 4.1 for instructions on battery replacement. Replace batteries promptly when the low battery indicator appears on the display to ensure accurate readings.

6.3 Storage

When not in use for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage. Store the multimeter in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

7. Troubleshooting

  • No Display/Power: Check battery installation and charge level. Replace batteries if necessary.
  • Incorrect Readings: Ensure test leads are correctly connected to the appropriate input jacks. Verify the rotary dial is set to the correct function and range. Check for damaged test leads.
  • "OL" on Display: Indicates an overload or out-of-range measurement. Select a higher range or a different measurement function.
  • No Continuity Beep: Ensure the continuity function is selected and test leads are making good contact.
