Setup and Installation
1. Safety Precautions
- Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses and gloves during installation.
- Ensure the power system is completely off before connecting or disconnecting the battery.
- Avoid short-circuiting the battery terminals.
- Do not attempt to open or modify the battery casing.
2. Physical Installation
Position the battery in a secure, well-ventilated area. Ensure the battery is protected from direct sunlight, excessive heat, and moisture. Use the provided bandage/strap to secure the battery if necessary.
3. Electrical Connection
- Connect the positive (+) terminal of the battery to the positive (+) terminal of your system, and the negative (-) terminal to the negative (-) terminal.
- Use the provided M8 terminal screws and protective caps to ensure secure and insulated connections.
- Important: This CHINS 48V 100Ah LiFePO4 Battery does not support series connection. Connecting batteries in series will cause irreversible damage.
- Parallel Connection: Multiple batteries can be connected in parallel to increase capacity. It is recommended to connect no more than 8 batteries in parallel (Max 800Ah total capacity). When connecting in parallel, ensure all batteries have the same voltage and capacity, and were purchased within a similar timeframe (within 6 months).
4. Initial Charging
Before first use, fully charge the battery using the included 48V 18A lithium charger. Connect the charger to the battery using the provided charger connecting wire, then plug the charger into a suitable power outlet. The charger will indicate when charging is complete.
Operating Instructions
1. Bluetooth Monitoring
The CHINS lithium battery includes a Bluetooth function, allowing you to monitor various battery data (State of Charge - SOC, voltage, current, etc.) via a mobile application. Download the CHINS battery app from your smartphone's app store.
- Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your mobile device.
- Open the CHINS battery app and search for available devices.
- Connect to your CHINS battery. The wireless connection range is typically within 5-10 meters.
- The app will display real-time battery status.

2. Battery Management System (BMS)
The built-in 200A BMS protects the battery from various conditions:
- Overcharge Protection: Prevents charging beyond the safe voltage limit.
- Over-discharge Protection: Prevents discharging below the safe voltage limit.
- Over-current Protection: Safeguards against excessive current draw.
- Short Circuit Protection: Protects against damage from short circuits.
- High Temperature Cut-off: Prevents charging if the internal temperature exceeds 122°F (50°C).
- Low Temperature Cut-off: Automatically cuts off the charging function in low-temperature environments (below 0°C / 32°F) to prevent irreversible damage.
3. MPPT and Inverter Settings (for 51.2V systems)
For systems utilizing MPPT charge controllers or inverters with adjustable settings, use the following parameters for optimal performance and battery longevity:
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Charging Limit Voltage | 56.8V |
| Over Voltage Disconnect Voltage | 58.4V |
| Over Voltage Reconnect Voltage | 55.2V |
| Float Charging Voltage | 55.2V |
| Low Voltage Disconnect Voltage | 46.4V |
| Low Voltage Reconnect Voltage | 49.6V |
| Under Voltage Warning Voltage | 51.2V |
Maintenance
1. Regular Charging
Always use the provided CHINS 48V 18A lithium charger or a compatible LiFePO4 charger. Avoid overcharging or undercharging the battery. Regular charging helps maintain battery health.
2. Storage
If storing the battery for an extended period, ensure it is charged to approximately 50-70% State of Charge (SOC). Store the battery in a cool, dry place within the recommended storage temperature range of -10°C to 35°C (14°F to 95°F). Avoid extreme temperatures.
3. Terminal Inspection
Periodically inspect battery terminals for corrosion or loose connections. Clean terminals as needed and ensure all connections are tight and secure.
Troubleshooting
- Battery not charging:
- Check charger connection and power supply.
- Verify battery temperature is within the charging range (0°C~50°C). The BMS will prevent charging below 0°C.
- Ensure the charger is specifically designed for LiFePO4 batteries.
- Battery not discharging/powering device:
- Check all electrical connections for tightness and proper polarity.
- Verify battery voltage using the Bluetooth app. If voltage is below 46.4V (Low Voltage Disconnect), the BMS has shut off output. Recharge the battery.
- Ensure the device's peak current draw does not exceed the battery's peak discharge current (1000A). For golf cart controllers, ensure their peak current is below 1000A.
- Check for short circuits in the system. The BMS will activate short circuit protection.
- Inaccurate SOC reading on Bluetooth app:
- Ensure the app is updated to the latest version.
- If the battery has been deeply discharged or stored for a long time, a full charge cycle may help recalibrate the SOC.
- If the issue persists, contact customer support.
- Battery shuts off unexpectedly (e.g., at 30% SOC):
- This can indicate an imbalance in the battery cells or an issue with the BMS calibration. While the BMS protects against over-discharge, an early cutoff might suggest a need for recalibration or further inspection.
- Ensure the battery is fully charged periodically to allow the BMS to balance cells.
- If this occurs frequently, contact customer support for assistance.
