Giro Jackson MIPS Ski Helmet - Snowboard Helmet User Manual
Model: Jackson MIPS (7172524)
Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the proper use, care, and maintenance of your Giro Jackson MIPS Ski Helmet. Please read these instructions thoroughly before using your helmet to ensure optimal safety and performance.
The Giro Jackson MIPS helmet is designed for skiing and snowboarding, offering advanced protection features including the Multi-Directional Impact Protection System (MIPS).
Safety Information
WARNING: No helmet can protect the wearer against all foreseeable impacts. For maximum protection, the helmet must be fitted and attached properly to the wearer's head in accordance with these instructions. Any helmet that has sustained an impact should be replaced immediately, even if no visible damage is present. Helmets are designed for single impact protection. Do not modify the helmet in any way. Do not use paint, solvents, or decals on the helmet, as these may degrade the helmet's protective capabilities.
Always wear appropriate eye protection (goggles) when skiing or snowboarding.
Setup and Fitting
1. Choosing the Correct Size
Measure your head circumference at its widest point, just above your eyebrows. Refer to the size chart provided by Giro to select the appropriate helmet size. A properly sized helmet should feel snug and comfortable without causing pressure points.
2. Fitting the Helmet
- Placement: Position the helmet squarely on your head, ensuring the front edge is just above your eyebrows. It should not be tilted back or forward.
- Snugness: The helmet should fit snugly all around your head. If it feels loose, adjust the In Form 2 Fit System dial at the back of the helmet. Turn the dial clockwise to tighten and counter-clockwise to loosen until a secure, comfortable fit is achieved.
- Chin Strap: Fasten the chin strap securely. The strap should be snug under your chin, allowing only one or two fingers to fit between the strap and your chin. The strap should not cover your ears.
- Stability Test: With the chin strap fastened, shake your head vigorously from side to side and front to back. The helmet should remain stable and not shift significantly on your head.
- Goggle Compatibility: Ensure seamless compatibility with Giro goggles. The helmet's design accommodates various goggle shapes, preventing a "gaper gap" (space between helmet and goggles). Adjust the vertical tuning feature if necessary for optimal fit with your goggles.

Operating Features
Passive Aggressive Venting System
The helmet features a Passive Aggressive Venting System. This system is designed with discreet exterior vents and internal channeling to optimize airflow and regulate temperature automatically. It manages airflow whether you are riding, hiking, or standing still, helping to prevent overheating and goggle fogging.
MIPS (Multi-Directional Impact Protection System)
The integrated MIPS technology is a low-friction layer designed to reduce rotational motion transferred to the brain from angled impacts. This system allows the helmet's outer shell to slide relative to the head during certain impacts, potentially reducing the forces transmitted to the brain.

Removable Components
- Goggle Retainer: The helmet includes a removable goggle retainer to keep your goggles securely in place.
- Earpads: Removable earpads allow for customization of warmth and compatibility with aftermarket audio systems.
Care and Maintenance
- Cleaning: Clean the helmet shell with a soft cloth, mild soap, and water. Avoid harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the helmet's materials and protective properties.
- Liner Care: The internal padding and earpads can be removed and hand-washed with mild soap and water. Allow them to air dry completely before reinserting.
- Storage: Store your helmet in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Avoid storing it near heat sources or in areas where it might be exposed to chemicals.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect your helmet for any signs of damage, such as cracks, dents, or frayed straps. If any damage is found, replace the helmet immediately.
Troubleshooting
- Helmet feels loose: Adjust the In Form 2 Fit System dial at the back of the helmet to tighten the fit. Ensure the chin strap is also snug.
- Goggles don't fit well with helmet (gaper gap): Adjust the vertical tuning feature of the In Form 2 Fit System. Ensure your goggles are compatible with Giro helmets for optimal fit.
- Overheating or fogging: The Passive Aggressive Venting System is designed to manage temperature. Ensure no vents are obstructed. If issues persist, consider adjusting your layering.
- Helmet makes noise: Check that all removable components (earpads, goggle retainer) are securely in place.
