The XTOOL A30M Wireless OBD2 Scanner is a versatile diagnostic tool designed for both professional technicians and DIY enthusiasts. It offers comprehensive vehicle diagnostics, active tests, and various reset functions, all accessible wirelessly via your smartphone (Android & iPhone).

3. Setup Guide

Follow these steps to set up your XTOOL A30M scanner for first-time use:

1. Download the App: Search for the "XTOOL" app on the Apple App Store (for iPhone) or Google Play Store (for Android). Download and install the application on your smartphone.
2. Connect the Scanner to Vehicle:
   • Locate your vehicle's OBDII port. This is typically found under the dashboard on the driver's side.
   • Plug the XTOOL A30M scanner unit directly into the OBDII port. If the port is difficult to access, use the provided OBDII extension cable.
   • Once connected, the scanner unit will power on, indicated by its display.
3. Pair with Your Smartphone:
   • Turn on your smartphone's Bluetooth.
   • Open the XTOOL application.
   • The app will guide you through the pairing process. Select the XTOOL A30M device from the list of available Bluetooth devices.
   • Once paired, the app will establish a connection with the scanner.
4. Vehicle Information & Updates:
   • The app may prompt you to download vehicle-specific software or updates. Ensure you have a stable internet connection for this step.
   • Input your vehicle's information (make, model, year, VIN) as prompted by the app to ensure accurate diagnostics.

Note: Ensure your vehicle's ignition is in the "ON" position (engine off) or the engine is running, depending on the diagnostic function you intend to perform.

4. Operating Instructions

The XTOOL A30M provides a comprehensive suite of diagnostic and service functions. Navigate through the XTOOL app on your smartphone to access these features.

4.1 Full System Diagnostics

This function allows you to scan all available electronic control units (ECUs) in your vehicle for diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and view live data.

• Read Codes: Retrieve current, pending, and historic DTCs from various systems (Engine, Transmission, ABS, SRS, HVAC, etc.).
• Clear Codes: Erase DTCs from the vehicle's memory after repairs have been made.
• Live Data: View real-time parameters from vehicle sensors and components. The A30M supports graphing up to 8 live data streams simultaneously for easier analysis of trends and anomalies.
• ECU Information: Retrieve vehicle information such as VIN, calibration IDs, and calibration verification numbers.
• Freeze Frame: View a snapshot of vehicle operating conditions at the time a fault code was set.
• Auto VIN: Automatically identify vehicle information for quick setup.

4.2 Bidirectional Control / Active Tests

Bidirectional control allows the scanner to send commands to vehicle ECUs to perform specific tests and functions, helping to pinpoint faulty components without disassembly.

• Activate components like fuel pumps, injectors, A/C clutch, windows, sunroofs, and more.
• Test the functionality of various actuators and solenoids.
• This feature significantly reduces diagnostic time for complex issues.

4.3 Reset Functions (23+ Services)

The A30M offers a wide range of service functions to assist with routine maintenance and repairs. Note that specific services may not be available for all vehicle models.

• Oil Reset: Reset the oil life reminder after an oil change.
• EPB Reset: Reset the electronic parking brake after brake pad replacement.

• ABS Bleeding: Perform ABS brake bleeding procedures.

• Software Updates: The A30M comes with lifetime free software updates. Regularly check for and install updates via the XTOOL app to ensure compatibility with new vehicle models and access to the latest features and bug fixes. A stable internet connection is required for updates.
• Cleaning: Clean the scanner unit and cable with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
• Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
• Cable Care: Avoid bending or twisting the OBDII extension cable excessively. Always grasp the connector ends when plugging or unplugging to prevent damage to the pins.
