4. Setup and Assembly

The Gbnryg M55J metal detector features a collapsible cam lock design and screw-less main head for straightforward assembly.

  1. Attach the Search Coil: Connect the 12-inch search coil to the lower stem. Ensure it is securely fastened.
  2. Assemble the Stem: Connect the lower, middle, and upper stem sections. The adjustable length allows for customization from 19 to 59 inches.
  3. Mount the Control Box: Slide the control box onto the upper stem.
  4. Attach the Armrest: Secure the armrest bracket to the upper stem for comfortable operation.
  5. Connect Cables: Carefully route and connect the search coil cable to the control box.
  6. Install Batteries: Open the battery compartment on the control box and insert the two AA batteries, observing polarity.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off

Press and hold the power button on the control box to turn the detector on or off. The LCD backlight will illuminate upon activation.

5.2 Detection Modes

The Gbnryg M55J offers 5 professional detection modes to suit various search conditions and target types. Use the 'MODE' button to cycle through them.

  • ALL METAL: Detects all types of metal.
  • DISC (Discrimination): Allows you to eliminate unwanted metals (e.g., iron) from detection.
  • NOTCH: Provides more precise control over which metal categories are ignored.
  • JEWELRY: Optimized for finding jewelry such as rings, bracelets, and necklaces.
  • MEMORY: Recalls previous settings or target information.

5.3 Sensitivity Adjustment

The detector features 5 sensitivity levels. Use the 'SENS' button and '+' / '-' buttons to adjust sensitivity. Higher sensitivity increases detection depth but may also increase false signals in mineralized ground.

5.4 Volume Adjustment

There are 3 volume levels for the audio alerts. Adjust the volume using the dedicated volume buttons to suit your environment and preference.

5.5 Pinpointer Mode

Activate the 'PINPOINT' mode to precisely locate the exact position of a detected target before digging. This helps in minimizing excavation size.

5.6 Search Coil Operation

The 12-inch IP68 waterproof search coil can be fully submerged in water, making it suitable for use in shallow water, beaches, and wet environments. Maintain a consistent swing height and speed for optimal detection.

5.7 Using Headphones

Connect the included headphones to the control box for clearer audio signals and to avoid disturbing others. The headphones feature adjustable volume.

5.8 Digging Tools

The included manganese steel digger is designed for easy excavation. Its long shovel head increases digging depth.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

  • After each use, especially in wet or sandy conditions, wipe down the search coil and stem with a damp cloth.
  • Ensure the control box remains dry. If it gets wet, dry it immediately with a soft cloth.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents on any part of the detector.

6.2 Storage

  • Store the metal detector in a cool, dry place when not in use.
  • Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
