4. Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the dehumidifier from its packaging. Retain packaging materials for future storage or transport.
  2. Placement: Place the dehumidifier on a flat, stable surface in the desired location. Ensure there is at least 8 inches (20 cm) of space around the unit for proper air circulation. Avoid placing it against walls or furniture that could obstruct airflow.
  3. Initial Rest Period: If the unit has been tilted during shipping, allow it to stand upright for at least 24 hours before plugging it into a power outlet. This allows the refrigerant to settle, preventing potential damage to the compressor.
  4. Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet.

5. Operating Instructions

The HOGARLABS dehumidifier features a digital control panel for easy operation.

Control Panel Functions:

  • Power Button: Turns the unit on or off.
  • Humidity (HUMI) Button: Press to set the desired humidity level (30% to 80% relative humidity). The unit will operate until the set humidity is reached, then cycle on and off to maintain it.
  • Mode Button: Cycles through the three operating modes:
    • DEHU Mode: Standard dehumidification. Allows manual setting of humidity levels between 30% and 80%.
    • DRY Mode: Designed for continuous operation to dry clothes or in highly humid environments. The unit runs continuously regardless of ambient humidity.
    • CONT Mode: Continuous dehumidification. Similar to DRY mode, the unit operates continuously without stopping based on a set humidity level.
  • Timer Button: Sets the automatic on/off timer (1-24 hours). Press repeatedly to adjust the desired time.
  • Speed Button: Adjusts the fan speed (Low/High) in DEHU and CONT modes.
  • Lock Button (3s): Press and hold for 3 seconds to activate/deactivate the child lock function, preventing accidental changes to settings.

Setting Desired Humidity:

In DEHU mode, press the HUMI button to select your target humidity. The unit will display the current humidity and then flash the set humidity. Use the up/down arrows (often integrated with HUMI or Speed buttons, refer to specific model icons) to adjust. The unit will automatically turn off when the target humidity is reached and restart when humidity rises above the set level.

6. Drainage Options

Your dehumidifier offers two methods for water removal:

6.1. Manual Drainage (Water Tank)

The unit is equipped with a 0.42-gallon (1.6-liter) water tank. When the tank is nearly full, the dehumidifier will automatically stop operation and emit a brief beep alarm. The 'Full' indicator light will illuminate. To empty the tank:

  1. Gently pull out the water tank from the front of the unit.
  2. Carefully empty the collected water.
  3. Slide the empty tank back into the unit until it clicks into place. The dehumidifier will resume operation automatically.

6.2. Continuous Drainage (Drain Hose)

For uninterrupted operation in highly humid environments, you can use the included 6.56-foot (2-meter) drain hose for continuous drainage.

  1. Locate the continuous drain outlet at the back of the dehumidifier.
  2. Remove the rubber stopper from the drain outlet.
  3. Connect one end of the drain hose to the outlet, ensuring a secure fit.
  4. Direct the other end of the hose to a suitable drain point, such as a floor drain or a large container. Ensure the hose is sloped downwards to allow gravity to drain the water effectively. Avoid kinks or blockages in the hose.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your dehumidifier.

7.1. Cleaning the Air Filter

The dehumidifier is equipped with a detachable, washable filter screen. A dirty filter can reduce efficiency and airflow.

  1. Unplug the dehumidifier from the power outlet.
  2. Locate and remove the air filter (typically at the back or side of the unit).
  3. Wash the filter with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly.
  4. Allow the filter to air dry completely before reinstalling it. Do not use a dryer or direct heat.
  5. Reinstall the dry filter and plug the unit back in.

7.2. Cleaning the Unit Exterior

Wipe the exterior of the dehumidifier with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals, abrasives, or solvents.
