  • Sufficient air is needed for proper combustion and exhausting of gases through the flue (chimney) of fuel burning equipment to prevent back-drafting. Follow the heating equipment manufacturer’s guideline and safety standards such as those published by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and the American Society for Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), and the local code authorities.

4. Setup and Installation

Before beginning installation, ensure the power supply is disconnected at the circuit breaker. This fan is designed for ceiling installation and requires a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network for smart features.

4.1 Ceiling Opening Dimensions

The fan housing measures 12.87" x 10.59" x 7.91". The light cover size is 13.1" x 13.1". The recommended ceiling opening is 11.39" x 10.42" x 9" square. Use the provided drywall cutout template for accurate sizing.

Product dimensions and ceiling opening requirements

If the hole is too small, trace the housing onto the ceiling and then cut the ceiling with a keyhole saw. If the hole is too big, you'll need to patch the ceiling. The patched areas can be repaired with spackling compound later.

4.2 Preparing the Fan Unit

  1. Remove Duct Connector and Wire Cover: Carefully remove the duct connector and the wire cover from the fan housing. This provides access for wiring and duct connection.
  2. Video: Step-by-step guide on how to assemble the Flex-Z fast bracket for installation.

  3. Place the Fan Housing: Insert the fan housing into the prepared ceiling opening.
  4. Install the Flex Bracket: Secure the fan housing using the Flex Bracket. This bracket allows for easy installation and secure mounting to ceiling joists.
  5. Video: Detailed instructions on how to install the OREiN Bathroom Fan using the bracket method.

  6. Connect the Wires: Connect the electrical wires (Green to Green, White to White, Black to Black) using the provided wire connectors. Ensure all connections are secure and follow local electrical codes.
  7. Reattach Wire Cover: Once wiring is complete, reattach the wire cover with the short screw.
  8. Connect to Circular Duct: Connect the fan to a 6-inch or 4-inch circular duct (not provided). Use duct tape or aluminum tape to ensure air-tight seals and improve efficiency. Avoid deep corrugations in flexible ducting as they can block the damper; semi-rigid aluminum ducting is recommended.
  9. Secure Fan Housing: Pull the 4 tabs of the fan housing into the vertical position and align them with the slot on the telescopic support. Bend the tabs to the sides and secure the fan housing firmly to the telescopic support.
