4. Installation Instructions
This fan is designed for versatile room-side installation, simplifying the process for both new construction and retrofit applications. Ensure power is disconnected before beginning installation.
4.1 Pre-Installation Checks
- Verify that the mounting location can support the fan's weight.
- Ensure adequate clearance for the fan housing (7.5"D x 7.25"W x 5.75"H).
- Confirm that the existing ductwork is compatible with a 4-inch diameter duct.
- Gather necessary tools: screwdriver, wire strippers, drill, measuring tape, utility knife.
4.2 Room-Side Installation Steps
- Prepare Opening: Carefully cut an opening in the ceiling for the fan housing. The housing fits common fan size openings of 7.5” x 7.25”.
- Mount Housing: The fan features foldable mounting ears for easy installation. Secure the fan housing to the ceiling joists or framing.

5. Operating Instructions
The Broan-NuTone Roomside Series fan features a built-in humidity sensor for automatic operation and an integrated LED light.
5.1 Humidity Sensing Operation
The fan's humidity sensor automatically detects rising humidity levels in the room. When the humidity reaches the user-adjustable set-point, the fan will turn on to exhaust moist air. Once the humidity level drops below the set-point, the fan will automatically turn off after a short delay.
5.2 Adjusting Humidity Sensor Set-Point
The humidity sensor's sensitivity can be adjusted to suit your preferences and bathroom environment. Refer to the diagram below for the location of the adjustment dial. Use a small screwdriver to carefully turn the dial to increase or decrease sensitivity. A higher setting means the fan will activate at lower humidity levels.

Image 5.1: Humidity sensor adjustment dial location.
5.3 LED Light Operation
The integrated LED light operates independently and can be controlled via a standard wall switch (not included). Ensure proper wiring during installation to allow separate control of the fan and light functions.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your exhaust fan. Always disconnect power at the service panel before performing any maintenance.
6.1 Cleaning the Grille
The CleanCover™ grille is designed for easy removal and cleaning. To clean:
- Turn off power to the fan at the circuit breaker.
- Gently pull down on the grille to release the SlideClip™ attachments.
- Wash the grille with mild soap and water. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
- Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry completely before reattaching.
- Align the grille with the housing and push firmly until the SlideClip™ attachments engage.
