4. Setup and Installation

The installation of this mini split AC/heating system is complex and requires specialized tools and knowledge. It is mandatory that installation be performed by a professional HVAC installer. Attempting to install the unit yourself may void the warranty and lead to serious damage or injury.

4.1 Site Selection

  • Indoor Unit: Choose a location that allows for even air distribution throughout the room, away from direct sunlight or heat sources. Ensure sufficient space around the unit for maintenance.
  • Outdoor Unit: Select a well-ventilated area, away from obstacles that could impede airflow. The outdoor unit is designed to operate effectively in extreme temperatures, cooling even at 131°F and heating at -4°F, thanks to its built-in heater.

4.2 Installation Steps (Overview for Professional)

  1. Mounting the indoor unit and wall plate.
  2. Drilling the wall hole for piping.
  3. Connecting refrigerant pipes and communication wires.
  4. Installing the outdoor unit.
  5. Vacuuming and charging the refrigerant system.
  6. Performing a leak test and trial run.

5. Operating Instructions

Your COSTWAY mini split system offers multiple ways to control your comfort, including a remote control, a smartphone app, and voice commands.

5.1 Remote Control Operation

The included remote control provides convenient access to all functions. Ensure the remote is pointed towards the indoor unit when operating.

5.2 Smart APP & Voice Control

The system is Wi-Fi enabled, allowing you to control it remotely via a smartphone app. It also integrates with voice assistants like Alexa and Google Assistant for hands-free operation.

  • Download the compatible app (refer to the user guide for specific app name).
  • Follow the in-app instructions to connect your unit to your home Wi-Fi network.
  • Enable the skill/action for Alexa or Google Assistant and link your account.
  • You can now adjust settings, change modes, and monitor the unit from anywhere.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the efficiency and longevity of your air conditioning system. Always turn off the power supply to the unit before performing any maintenance.

6.1 High-Temperature Self-Cleaning

The indoor unit features a 133°F high-temperature self-cleaning function to help maintain air quality and prevent mold and bacteria buildup.

  • Refer to your remote control or app for instructions on activating the self-clean mode.
  • During this cycle, the unit will heat the evaporator coil to a high temperature to sterilize it, then cool it down to remove condensed water and debris.

6.2 Removable & Washable Filter

The air filter should be cleaned regularly (e.g., every 2-4 weeks, depending on usage) to maintain optimal airflow and air quality.

  1. Open the front panel of the indoor unit.
  2. Carefully remove the air filters.
  3. Wash the filters with lukewarm water and a mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly.
  4. Allow the filters to dry completely in a shaded area before reinserting them. Do not expose to direct sunlight.
  5. Reinstall the filters and close the front panel.

6.3 General Cleaning

  • Wipe the indoor and outdoor units with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Ensure the drain hose is clear of blockages to prevent water leakage.
