1. Introduction

Welcome to the YUNZII B87 Wireless Mechanical Keyboard user manual. This guide provides detailed instructions to help you set up, operate, and maintain your new keyboard. The YUNZII B87 is an 87-key TKL layout mechanical keyboard featuring tri-mode connectivity, QMK/VIA programmability, hot-swappable switches, gasket mount design, and RGB backlighting.

The YUNZII B87 keyboard includes the following components:

3. Setup

Connectivity Modes

The YUNZII B87 supports three connection modes: Bluetooth, 2.4G Wireless, and USB-C Wired. A switch on the side of the keyboard allows you to select your preferred mode.

Bluetooth Connection (Fn+1/2/3)

1. Toggle the switch on the side of the keyboard to the BT Bluetooth Mode.
2. Short press Fn+1/2/3 to choose a Bluetooth channel. The 1/2/3 key will flash blue slowly.
3. On your device (PC, laptop, smartphone), go to Bluetooth settings and select "YUNZII B87 BT1/BT2/BT3" for pairing.
4. Once paired successfully, the RGB backlights will restore to the normal mode.

Note: If pairing fails, the 1/2/3 key will flash slowly. Please reconnect it. If there is no operation for 60 seconds, the 1/2/3 key will turn off. Please awaken the keyboard first if you need to reconnect it.

2.4G Wireless Connection (Fn+4)

1. Switch the mode button to the 2.4G position. The keyboard enters 2.4G Wireless Mode.
2. Long press Fn+4 to enter 2.4G wireless pairing mode. The 4 key will flash green fast.
3. Plug the 2.4G dongle into an empty USB port on your device.
4. After successful pairing, the lighting mode will restore to normal.

Note: If pairing fails, the 4 key will flash slowly. Please reconnect it. If there is no operation for 60 seconds, the 4 key will turn off. Please awaken the keyboard first if you need to reconnect it.

USB-C Wired Connection

Connect the keyboard to your device using the provided USB-C to USB-A cable. The keyboard will automatically switch to wired mode.

Multi-Device Compatibility

The YUNZII B87 is compatible with Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android devices. It can connect to up to 5 devices simultaneously (3 via Bluetooth, 1 via 2.4G, 1 via USB-C), allowing seamless switching between them.

4. Operating Instructions

RGB Backlight Control

Customize your typing experience with various RGB backlight settings:

• Fn + Backspace: Turn backlight effect ON/OFF.
• Fn + ↑: Increase backlight brightness.
• Fn + ↓: Decrease backlight brightness.
• Fn + →: Change backlight effect.
• Fn + ←: Change backlight effect.
• Fn + Enter: Change backlight color.
• Fn + [ : Increase blinking speed.
• Fn + ] : Decrease blinking speed.

QMK/VIA Customization

The YUNZII B87 supports QMK/VIA software, allowing extensive customization of your keyboard directly from a web browser. This includes:

• Key Mappings: Reassign any key function.

• Macros: Program complex sequences of commands.
• Lighting Effects: Fine-tune RGB patterns and colors.

Hot-Swappable Switches

The keyboard features full-key hot-swappable sockets, allowing you to easily change switches without soldering. This supports both 3-pin and 5-pin switches.

Replacing Switches and Keycaps

1. Use the provided keycap puller to gently remove the desired keycap.
2. Use the provided switch puller to carefully grip the switch and pull it straight up.
3. Align the pins of the new switch with the holes on the PCB and gently push down until it clicks into place.
4. Place the keycap back onto the new switch.

Battery Status Check

Press Fn + Right Ctrl to check the battery level. The power indicator will show:

• 1-30%: Red
• 31-70%: Yellow
• 71% or more: Green

5. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your YUNZII B87 keyboard, follow these maintenance tips:

• Regular Cleaning: Use a soft brush or compressed air to remove dust and debris from between the keycaps. For deeper cleaning, remove keycaps using the provided puller and wipe the keyboard surface with a damp, lint-free cloth.
• Keycap Care: The Dye Sublimation PBT keycaps are durable. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could damage the legends or surface.
• Switch Care: While switches are hot-swappable, avoid excessive force when removing or inserting them to prevent bending pins or damaging sockets.
• Battery Longevity: For optimal battery life, avoid fully discharging the keyboard frequently. Charge it when the indicator shows low battery.
• Storage: When not in use, store the keyboard in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

• Connectivity Issues: If the keyboard fails to connect via Bluetooth or 2.4G, ensure the mode switch is in the correct position. Try re-pairing the device. If the keyboard goes idle, press any key to wake it up before attempting to reconnect.
• QMK/VIA Not Responding: Ensure your web browser is compatible and the keyboard is in wired mode for initial setup or firmware updates. Refer to the official YUNZII QMK/VIA guide for detailed instructions.
• RGB Backlight Not Working: Check the battery level. Ensure the backlight is not turned off (Fn + Backspace). Cycle through effects and brightness settings using the Fn key combinations.
• Keys Not Registering: If a specific key is not working, try hot-swapping the switch with a known working one or one of the spare switches provided. Ensure the switch pins are not bent during insertion.
