JESSINIE PD65W Charging Module User Manual

Model: 90355

1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the JESSINIE PD65W Charging Module. This versatile module features a Type-C interface supporting multiple fast charging protocols, designed for various power transformation applications.

2. Safety Information

Important Safety Instructions:

  • Ensure input voltage is within the specified range (DC 8-32V).
  • Always connect the power adapter to its power source before connecting it to the module to prevent slow power-on issues.
  • Avoid short circuits at the output terminals.
  • Do not expose the module to moisture or extreme temperatures.
  • Handle with care to prevent physical damage.
  • This product is intended for experienced users familiar with electronic components.

3. Product Features

  • High-Efficiency Charging: Supports Type-C interface with PD3.1, PPS, QC3.0, SCP, FCP, AFC, MTK PE+1.1/2.0 protocols.
  • Wide Input Voltage: Operates with DC 8V to 32V input.
  • Dynamic Output Voltage: Automatic adjustment between 3.3V and 21V (output voltage is always lower than input voltage).
  • Maximum Output Power: Up to 65W (e.g., 5V/3A, 9V/3A, 12V/3A, 20V/3.25A).
  • High Conversion Efficiency: 92% - 97%.
  • Robust Protection: Includes input overvoltage/undervoltage protection, input overcurrent protection, output overcurrent/short circuit protection, and overtemperature protection.
  • Compact Design: Dimensions approximately 32mm x 20mm.

4. Setup and Installation

  1. Power Source Preparation: Ensure your DC power source (8V-32V) is ready.
  2. Initial Power-On Sequence: It is crucial to power on your DC power adapter before connecting it to the JESSINIE PD65W module. This prevents potential issues where a slowly powering-on adapter might cause the module to misidentify power capabilities, leading to an inability to achieve 65W output.
  3. Connecting Input Power:
    • Identify the positive (+) and negative (-) input terminals on the module's solder pads.
    • Connect your DC power source to these terminals. Ensure correct polarity.
  4. DC Jack Compatibility (General Information):
    • The module's DC seat (if present on a variant) typically protrudes approximately 1mm from the plate edge.
    • Common DC jack types are 5521 (outer diameter 5.5mm, inner diameter 2.1mm) and 5525 (outer diameter 5.5mm, inner diameter 2.5mm). The 5521 model is generally compatible with 5525 plugs using tuning fork shrapnel.
  5. Output Connection: The module features a Type-C female port for power output. Connect your compatible device (e.g., smartphone, laptop) to this port using a Type-C cable.

5. Operation

Once the module is correctly connected to a power source and a compatible device, it will automatically negotiate the optimal charging voltage and current based on the connected device's requirements and supported protocols.

  • Automatic Voltage Adjustment: The module automatically adjusts its output voltage between 3.3V and 21V to match the power receiving device.
  • Achieving 65W Output: To trigger a 20V fast charge and achieve the maximum 65W output, the input voltage to the module must be higher than 20V. For example, if you want 20V output, your input should be 20V or higher (up to 32V).
  • Output Power Examples: The module can deliver various power profiles, including 5V/3A, 9V/3A, 12V/3A, and 20V/3.25A, totaling up to 65W.

6. Maintenance

The JESSINIE PD65W Charging Module requires minimal maintenance. Follow these guidelines to ensure longevity:

  • Keep the module clean and free from dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
  • Store the module in a dry environment, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Regularly inspect connections for any signs of wear or damage.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the module, as this will void the warranty and may cause damage.

7. Troubleshooting

Issue: Module not outputting 65W or fast charging.
Solution:
  • Ensure the input power adapter is powered on before connecting it to the module.
  • Verify that the input voltage is sufficient. For 20V output (required for 65W), the input voltage must be 20V or higher.
  • Check if the connected device supports the fast charging protocol and power level.
  • Inspect the Type-C cable for damage; use a high-quality cable rated for 65W.
Issue: No output power.
Solution:
  • Confirm the input power source is active and providing voltage within the 8V-32V range.
  • Check input polarity (+/-) connections.
  • Ensure the output Type-C cable is securely connected to both the module and the device.
  • The module has protection features; if it experienced an overcurrent or short circuit, disconnect power, wait a few moments, and reconnect.
Issue: Module gets excessively hot.
Solution:
  • Ensure adequate ventilation around the module.
  • Verify that the load is not exceeding the module's 65W maximum output.
  • If operating in a confined space, consider adding a small heatsink to the main power components if feasible and you have the necessary expertise.
