5. Installation
The installation process involves removing your factory radio and installing the new j Junsun unit. This guide provides general steps; specific vehicle disassembly instructions may vary. Refer to vehicle-specific resources if needed.
5.1 Pre-Installation Steps
- Gather Tools: Ensure you have the provided installation tools (screwdriver, crowbar) and any additional tools required for your vehicle (e.g., trim removal tools, socket wrenches).
- Disconnect Battery: Disconnect the negative terminal of your vehicle's battery.
- Remove Factory Radio: Carefully remove the dashboard trim panels and the factory radio. Use the crowbar tool to pry gently to avoid damage.
5.2 Wiring Connections
Connect the provided wiring harness to the new head unit and your vehicle's existing connectors. Ensure all connections are secure.
- Power Cable: Connect the main power harness.
- Can Bus Decoder Box: The Can Bus decoder box is crucial for integrating steering wheel controls, door-open notifications, and other vehicle-specific functions. Ensure it is securely plugged into the main harness. A common point of confusion is a small red and black cord near the Can Bus plug; ensure this is also connected.
- GPS Module: Connect the GPS antenna and mount it in a location with a clear view of the sky, typically on the dashboard or under the windshield.
- WiFi/4G Antenna: Connect the WiFi and 4G antennas. For optimal signal, ensure these wires are not coiled and point upwards if possible.
- USB Cables: Route the USB extension cables to a convenient location, such as the glove compartment or center console.
- Microphone: Connect the external microphone for clear hands-free calling. Mount it in a location near the driver, such as on the sun visor or A-pillar.
- Reversing Camera/Radar: If installing a reversing camera or radar, connect the RCA cable and reversing line as per the camera's instructions.
- Bose Sound System Note: If your vehicle has a Bose sound system and the power cord interface only has two cables, you may need to purchase a separate decoder box (ASIN: B09KLFRFLFH) for proper audio integration.

5.3 Mounting the Unit
- Test Connections: Before fully reassembling, reconnect the battery and perform a quick test of the unit's basic functions (power on, radio, touch screen responsiveness).
- Secure the Unit: Carefully slide the new head unit into the dashboard opening. Ensure all wires are tucked away and not pinched.
- Bezel Installation: When reattaching the factory silver trim or outer bezel, you may need to remove the screen from the main unit (held by Phillips screws) to properly fit the trim around it. The radio will then be secured by plastic clips. Some users have reported that the outer bezel may require minor modification to fit perfectly around the larger screen.
- Reassemble: Reattach all dashboard trim panels.

- Steering Wheel Controls (SWC): If your steering wheel controls are not functioning, go to Settings > Car Settings > SWC (Steering Wheel Control) and follow the on-screen instructions to map the buttons. The Can Bus decoder should facilitate this automatically in most cases.
