Components
The VIOFO A129 Plus Duo system includes the main front camera unit and a separate rear camera unit. The front unit features a display screen, control buttons, and ports for power, GPS, and the rear camera. The rear camera connects to the front unit via a cable.

Setup
1. Insert MicroSD Card
Insert a high-endurance MicroSD card (Class 10 or higher, up to 256GB recommended) into the MicroSD card slot on the side of the front camera unit. Ensure the card is inserted correctly until it clicks into place.
2. Mount the Front Camera
- Clean the windshield area where the camera will be mounted.
- Attach the GPS module (if separate) to the front camera, then peel off the adhesive film from the GPS module mount.
- Firmly press the mount onto the windshield, ideally behind the rearview mirror, ensuring it does not obstruct your view.
3. Mount the Rear Camera
- Clean the rear windshield area.
- Peel off the adhesive film from the rear camera mount.
- Mount the rear camera on the rear windshield, ensuring the lens has a clear view of the road behind.
4. Connect the Cameras
Connect the rear camera to the front camera using the provided rear camera cable. Route the cable neatly along the headliner and A-pillars to avoid interference with driving.
5. Power Connection
Connect the car charger to the front camera's power input port and plug the other end into your vehicle's 12V power outlet (cigarette lighter socket). For parking mode functionality, a VIOFO hardwire kit (sold separately) is required.
6. Initial Setup
Upon first power-on, the camera will prompt you to set the date/time and format the MicroSD card. It is crucial to format the MicroSD card within the camera before first use and periodically thereafter to ensure stable recording.
Operating Instructions
Automatic Recording
Once powered on, the dash cam will automatically begin loop recording. The front and rear cameras will record simultaneously. Recording is indicated by a flashing red REC icon on the screen.
Emergency Recording
The built-in G-sensor detects sudden impacts or rapid acceleration/deceleration. When triggered, the current video segment is automatically locked to prevent it from being overwritten by loop recording. You can also manually trigger emergency recording by pressing the dedicated emergency button (often marked with a triangle or exclamation mark).
Parking Mode
To utilize parking mode, the dash cam must be hardwired to your vehicle's fuse box using a VIOFO hardwire kit. Parking mode options include:
- Auto Event Detection: Records when motion or impact is detected.
- Time Lapse: Records continuously at a low frame rate.
- Low Bitrate Recording: Records continuously at a reduced video quality to save space.
Wi-Fi Connectivity and App
The A129 Plus Duo features built-in Wi-Fi. To connect:
- Download the VIOFO app from your smartphone's app store.
- Turn on Wi-Fi on the dash cam by pressing the Wi-Fi button.
- On your smartphone, connect to the dash cam's Wi-Fi network (SSID typically starts with 'VIOFO_A129P_').
- Open the VIOFO app to view live footage, browse recorded videos, download files, and adjust camera settings.
GPS Functionality
The integrated GPS module records your vehicle's speed and location data. This information is embedded in the video files and can be viewed using a compatible GPS player software on a computer.
Maintenance
MicroSD Card Formatting
Regularly format your MicroSD card (at least once a month) to maintain optimal recording performance and prevent data corruption. This can be done through the camera's menu settings or via the VIOFO app.
Lens Cleaning
Keep the camera lenses clean to ensure clear video quality. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe the lenses. Avoid abrasive materials or harsh chemicals.
Firmware Updates
Periodically check the VIOFO official website for firmware updates. Updating the firmware can improve camera performance, add new features, and resolve potential issues. Follow the instructions provided with the firmware update carefully.
Troubleshooting
- Camera not turning on:
- Ensure the power cable is securely connected to both the camera and the vehicle's power outlet. Check if the vehicle's 12V outlet is functioning. Try a different power source if available.
- Camera stops recording:
- The MicroSD card may be full or corrupted. Format the MicroSD card. Ensure you are using a high-endurance MicroSD card from a reputable brand.
- Wi-Fi connection issues:
- Ensure Wi-Fi is enabled on the dash cam. Restart both the dash cam and your smartphone. Try reconnecting to the Wi-Fi network.
- GPS not working:
- Ensure the GPS module is properly connected and has a clear view of the sky. It may take a few minutes for the GPS signal to be acquired.
