Setup and Installation
This low-voltage light requires a 12V landscape lighting transformer (not included) and low-voltage wiring. Follow these steps for proper installation:
- Plan Placement: Determine the desired locations for your deck/step lights. Consider areas that require illumination for safety and ambiance, such as stair treads, deck edges, or pathway borders.
- Prepare Wiring: Lay out your low-voltage landscape wiring from your transformer to the planned light locations. Ensure sufficient cable length for connections.
- Mounting the Fixture:
- For surface mounting on decks or steps, use appropriate screws (not included) to secure the light fixture to a stable surface. Ensure the mounting surface is flat and capable of supporting the fixture.
- For ground installation near pathways or garden beds, attach the provided heavy-duty stake to the bottom of the fixture and firmly insert it into the ground.
- Connect Wiring: Carefully connect the low-voltage wires from your main landscape lighting cable to the wires of the KastLite fixture. Use waterproof wire connectors (not included) to ensure a secure and weather-resistant connection. Maintain proper polarity (positive to positive, negative to negative).
- Secure Connections: After making connections, ensure they are tucked away safely and are not exposed to potential damage or water.
- Test System: Once all lights are installed and wired, connect your low-voltage transformer to power and test the system. Ensure all lights illuminate correctly.

Operating Instructions
The KastLite LED Deck/Step Light operates as part of a 12V low-voltage landscape lighting system. Once properly installed and connected to a compatible transformer, its operation is straightforward:
- Power On/Off: The light will turn on and off according to the settings of your 12V landscape lighting transformer. Most transformers feature a timer, photocell, or manual switch for controlling the lighting schedule.
- Automatic Operation: For automatic dusk-to-dawn operation, ensure your transformer's photocell is unobstructed and functioning correctly.
Maintenance
The KastLite LED Deck/Step Light is designed for durability and minimal maintenance. Follow these guidelines to ensure optimal performance and longevity:
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the fixture's lens and body with a soft, damp cloth to remove dirt, dust, and debris. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish or lens.
- Inspect Wiring: Annually inspect all wiring and connections for any signs of wear, damage, or corrosion. Repair or replace any compromised components immediately.
- Clear Debris: Ensure that leaves, mulch, or other garden debris do not accumulate around the fixture, which could impede light output or cause overheating.
- Fixture Stability: Check that the fixture remains securely mounted or staked in its position. Re-secure if necessary.
