Safety Instructions

• Always ensure the work light is placed on a stable surface to prevent tipping.
• Do not look directly into the LED light when it is operating, as it can cause eye strain or damage.
• Keep the work light away from flammable materials.
• Ensure proper ventilation when operating for extended periods.
• Disconnect from power (AC or battery) before cleaning or performing maintenance.
• This product is IPX5 waterproof, meaning it is protected against low-pressure water jets. Do not submerge the unit in water.
• Use only compatible Makita 18V lithium-ion batteries (up to 5.0Ah).
• Do not attempt to modify or disassemble the unit. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.

Setup

Installing the Battery (for Cordless Operation)

1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the work light.
2. Unlatch the metal clips and open the battery compartment cover.
3. Align your compatible Makita 18V lithium-ion battery (up to 5.0Ah) with the battery slot.
4. Slide the battery firmly into place until it clicks.
5. Close the battery compartment cover and secure the metal clips to ensure a waterproof seal.

Operating Instructions

Powering On/Off and Mode Selection

The SYLSTAR work light supports both AC and DC power.

AC Power Mode:

• Plug the 10-foot power cord into a standard 120V AC outlet. The light will automatically turn on at its maximum brightness (5000 lumens).
• In AC mode, the dimming knob is non-functional, and the light remains at full brightness. To turn off the light, unplug the power cord.

DC (Battery) Power Mode:

• Ensure a charged Makita 18V battery is securely installed in the battery compartment.
• Rotate the dimming knob clockwise from the "OFF" position to turn on the light.
• Continue rotating the knob to adjust the brightness steplessly from 10% to 100% (3500 lumens maximum).
• To turn off the light, rotate the dimming knob counter-clockwise to the "OFF" position.

Automatic Switchover:

• If the light is operating on AC power and the power supply is interrupted, it will seamlessly switch to battery power (if a charged battery is installed) without requiring a reset.

Adjusting Light Angle

The work light features an adjustable stand. Loosen the knobs on either side of the light head, adjust the angle to your desired position, and then tighten the knobs to secure it.

Maintenance

• Cleaning: Wipe the light's exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
• Storage: Store the work light in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight when not in use. Ensure the power cord is neatly wrapped using the integrated cable storage.
• Battery Care: If using battery power, remove the battery during long periods of inactivity.

Troubleshooting

Light does not turn on:

• AC Mode: Check if the power cord is securely plugged into a live 120V outlet. Ensure the outlet is functioning.
• DC Mode: Verify that a charged Makita 18V battery is correctly installed and the dimming knob is rotated past the "OFF" position.

Dimming knob does not adjust brightness:

• The stepless dimming function is only active when the work light is operating on DC (battery) power. When plugged into AC power, the light will operate at full brightness, and the dimming knob will not function.

Light suddenly turns off in DC mode:

• The work light has built-in low-voltage protection. If the battery voltage drops below a safe level (e.g., 14V), the light will automatically shut off to protect the battery from over-discharge. Recharge or replace the battery.
