4. Setup
4.1 Battery Installation
The Fenix LD45R comes with a Lithium Ion battery pre-installed. Before first use, ensure the tail cap is securely tightened to establish electrical contact. If replacing the battery, unscrew the tail cap, insert the new battery with the positive (+) terminal facing the head of the flashlight, and then re-tighten the tail cap.
4.2 Initial Charging
It is recommended to fully charge the flashlight before its first use to ensure optimal performance and battery life. Refer to Section 6 for detailed charging instructions.
5. Operation
5.1 Power On/Off
- To Turn On: Long press the main switch for 0.5 seconds.
- To Turn Off: Long press the main switch for 0.5 seconds.
5.2 Mode Selection (General Mode)
With the flashlight turned on, single-click the main switch to cycle through the general output modes in the following order: Eco → Low → Medium → High → Turbo.
The flashlight features intelligent memory for Eco, Low, and Medium modes. If the flashlight is turned off in High or Turbo mode, it will resume at Medium mode when turned on again to prevent accidental high output and heat generation.
5.3 Focus Adjustment (Spotlight/Floodlight)
Rotate the toggle switch located on the side of the flashlight to smoothly adjust the beam focus between a concentrated spotlight for long-range illumination and a wide floodlight for broad area coverage. This adjustment is stepless, allowing for precise control over the beam pattern.

- Exit Special Modes: Single-click the main switch to return to the previously used general output mode.
5.5 OLED Display
The integrated OLED display provides real-time information about the flashlight's status:
- Current Lumen Value: Shows the output level in lumens.
- Current Selected Output: Indicates the active brightness level (e.g., Lv.5 for Turbo).
- Remaining Battery Level: Displays a graphical representation of the battery charge.

7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Clean the flashlight body with a soft cloth. For optical surfaces, use a lens cleaning cloth.
- Lubrication: Periodically lubricate the O-rings with silicone grease to maintain water resistance.
- Battery Care: Store the flashlight with a partially charged battery if not used for extended periods. Recharge every few months to prevent battery degradation.
- Contact Points: Keep the electrical contact points clean to ensure reliable operation.
8. Troubleshooting
If your Fenix LD45R flashlight is not functioning correctly, please refer to the following common issues and solutions:
- Flashlight does not turn on:
- Ensure the tail cap is fully tightened.
- Check if the battery is inserted correctly with the positive (+) terminal facing the head.
- Charge the battery; it may be depleted.
- Clean the battery contact points and the flashlight's contact surfaces.
- Output decreases or flashlight gets hot quickly:
- High output modes (High, Turbo) generate significant heat. The flashlight has a built-in intelligent overheat protection system that will automatically reduce output to prevent damage. This is normal operation.
- Ensure adequate airflow around the flashlight during prolonged high-output use.
- Battery drains rapidly:
- Using the flashlight continuously on High or Turbo modes will consume battery power quickly.
- Ensure the battery is fully charged before use.
- Verify the battery is a genuine Fenix battery or a high-quality equivalent.
- Beam adjustment is not smooth:
- Check for any debris or obstructions around the toggle switch.
- Ensure the flashlight is clean and free from dirt.
