Making Espresso

- Prepare the Portafilter:
- Insert either the 1-cup or 2-cup filter basket into the portafilter.
- Add freshly ground coffee (medium grind, approximately 0.5mm is suggested) into the filter basket. For best results, use coffee beans roasted within the last two weeks.

- Tamp the coffee firmly and evenly using the provided tamper. Wipe any excess coffee from the rim.
- Install Portafilter: Align the portafilter with the group head on the machine, insert it, and twist firmly to the right until it is securely locked.
- Brew Espresso:
- Place your pre-warmed cup(s) under the portafilter spouts.
- For a 1-shot espresso (approx. 1.6oz), short press the coffee button (single cup icon).
- For a 2-shot espresso (approx. 2.3oz), long press the coffee button (double cup icon) for 3 seconds.
- The machine's 20 bar professional pump ensures optimal extraction and a rich aroma. The smart pre-soak system moistens the coffee evenly for better flavor.

Making an Americano
The Spacekey CM5080 features a dedicated Americano mode.
- Brew a 1-shot or 2-shot espresso as described above.
- Press the Americano button (coffee pot icon). The machine will dispense hot water to create a classic Americano (approx. 12oz).

Frothing Milk
The powerful steam wand allows you to create creamy milk froth for cappuccinos, lattes, and mochas.
- Prepare Milk: Use cold, refrigerated whole milk for best frothing results.

- Activate Steam Mode: Turn the dial to the STEAM position. Wait for the steam indicator light to illuminate, indicating the machine has reached the correct temperature.
- Purge Steam Wand: Briefly open the steam knob to release any condensed water. Close the knob.
- Froth Milk:
- Immerse the steam wand tip just below the surface of the milk in a frothing pitcher.
- Open the steam knob.
- Move the pitcher up and down slowly to incorporate air and create froth.
- Once the milk has doubled in volume and reached your desired temperature and texture, immerse the steam spout deeply to heat the milk further without adding more air.
- Close the steam knob and remove the pitcher.

- Clean Steam Wand: Immediately wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to prevent milk residue from drying. Briefly open the steam knob again to clear any milk from inside the wand.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning and maintenance ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your espresso machine.
Daily Cleaning
- Portafilter and Filter Baskets: After each use, remove the portafilter, discard the coffee grounds, and rinse the portafilter and filter basket under running water.
- Steam Wand: As mentioned in the operating instructions, wipe the steam wand immediately after frothing and purge it to prevent milk buildup. The 360° adjustable and removable nozzle makes cleaning easier.
- Drip Tray: Empty and clean the drip tray regularly. It is removable for easy access.

- Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the machine in water.
Descaling
Over time, mineral deposits can build up in the machine, affecting performance. Descale your machine every 2-3 months, or more frequently if you have hard water.
- Prepare a descaling solution according to the descaler manufacturer's instructions (or use a mixture of white vinegar and water, 1:1 ratio).
- Fill the water tank with the descaling solution.
- Place a large container under the group head and steam wand.
- Run the descaling solution through the machine by activating the espresso function and the steam function until the tank is empty.
- Rinse the water tank thoroughly and fill it with fresh water.
- Repeat step 4 with fresh water to flush out any remaining descaling solution.
