1. Introduction
This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the installation and maintenance of your new cvking metal chassis upgrade kit. This kit is designed to enhance the durability and performance of your WLtoys 104009, 104019, 104016, and 104018 remote control vehicles. Please read all instructions carefully before beginning the installation process.
2. Safety Information
- Always disconnect the battery from your RC vehicle before performing any maintenance or installation.
- Use appropriate tools for disassembly and assembly to prevent damage to components.
- Keep small parts, such as screws, out of reach of children.
- Wear safety glasses to protect your eyes from small flying debris during installation.
- If you are unsure about any step, consult a qualified technician or refer to your original RC vehicle's manual.
3. Package Contents
Please verify that all components are present before beginning installation:
- 1x Metal Chassis Plate (Gold/Orange)
- Assorted Mounting Screws (various sizes, silver and black)

Figure 3.1: The cvking metal chassis plate and accompanying screws. The main image displays the large, gold-colored metal chassis, which forms the primary structural component. Below it, a collection of silver and black screws of different lengths are shown, intended for securing various parts during assembly. To the right, two smaller images illustrate the chassis installed on an RC car, providing a visual reference for the final appearance and fit.
4. Setup and Installation
This section outlines the steps to replace your existing chassis with the new metal upgrade chassis.
4.1. Disassembly of Original Chassis
- Carefully remove the body shell of your WLtoys RC car.
- Disconnect the battery and remove it from the vehicle.
- Systematically remove all components attached to the original chassis. This includes, but is not limited to, the motor, ESC, receiver, servo, suspension arms, shock towers, differentials, and battery tray. Keep track of all screws and small parts, noting their original positions.
- Once all components are detached, carefully remove the original chassis.
4.2. Installation of Metal Chassis
- Position the new cvking metal chassis plate. Ensure it is oriented correctly, matching the layout of your original chassis.
- Begin reattaching the components removed in Section 4.1 to the new metal chassis. Start with major structural components like the front and rear bulkheads, shock towers, and suspension mounts.
- Use the provided screws where appropriate. Some original screws may be reused if they are compatible and in good condition. Refer to the image in Figure 3.1 for a visual reference of the installed chassis.
- Mount the motor, ESC, receiver, and servo in their designated locations on the new chassis. Ensure all wires are routed neatly and securely.
- Reinstall the battery tray and secure it firmly.
- Double-check all connections and ensure all screws are tightened appropriately. Avoid over-tightening, which can strip threads.
4.3. Post-Installation Checks
- Verify that all components are securely attached and there is no excessive play.
- Check for any binding in the suspension or drivetrain components.
- Ensure all electronic components are properly connected and functional before reattaching the body shell.
- Perform a low-speed test run in a safe area to confirm proper operation.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your metal chassis.
- Cleaning: After each use, especially in dirty or dusty conditions, clean the chassis with a soft brush or compressed air to remove debris. Avoid using harsh chemicals that could damage the metal finish.
- Inspection: Periodically inspect the chassis for any signs of damage, bends, or loose screws.
- Screw Tightness: Over time, vibrations can cause screws to loosen. Regularly check and tighten all mounting screws, especially those securing critical components.
- Corrosion Prevention: While the metal chassis is durable, prolonged exposure to moisture can lead to corrosion. Dry the chassis thoroughly if it gets wet.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues after installing the metal chassis, consider the following:
- Loose Components: If parts feel wobbly or detached, re-check all mounting screws for tightness.
- Binding/Friction: If the suspension or drivetrain components are not moving freely, ensure they are correctly aligned and not obstructed by the new chassis or other parts. Re-examine the installation steps for proper component placement.
- Unusual Noises: Investigate any new noises during operation. This could indicate loose parts, friction, or incorrect assembly.
