4. Setup

4.1 Hardware Connection

The KB-25mini connects to your computer or compatible device via a standard USB cable. No external power supply is typically required as it is USB bus-powered.

1. Connect the USB cable from the KB-25mini's USB port to an available USB port on your computer (PC or Mac).

4.2 Software Installation (Cubase LE)

The KB-25mini includes a license for Cubase LE software, a powerful DAW for music production. Follow these steps to install and activate your Cubase LE software:

1. Locate the Cubase LE license redemption card included with your KB-25mini.
2. Visit the website provided on the license redemption card (e.g., www.steinberg.net/go).
3. Enter your unique Download Access Code from the card to redeem your Cubase LE license.
4. Download and install the Steinberg Download Assistant suitable for your operating system (Windows or macOS).
5. Launch the Steinberg Download Assistant and sign in to your account.
6. From the Download Assistant, select Cubase LE and download all required setup files and plugins.
7. Once downloaded, install Cubase LE and any associated components.
8. Open Cubase LE. If prompted, activate the software using your Steinberg account credentials.
9. Ensure the KB-25mini is connected and recognized in Cubase LE's MIDI Port Setup (Studio Setup > MIDI Port Setup).

5. Operating Instructions

Once the KB-25mini is connected and your DAW (e.g., Cubase LE) is set up, you can begin creating music.

5.1 Playing the Keyboard and Pads

• Keys: Play the 25 semi-weighted keys to input MIDI notes into your DAW. The velocity sensitivity allows for dynamic expression.
• Pads: Use the 8 velocity-sensitive pads to trigger drum sounds, samples, or loops. The pads are backlit for visual feedback.
• Full Level Button: Activates full velocity (127) for the pads, regardless of how softly they are hit.
• Octave Buttons (OCT +/-): Adjust the octave range of the keyboard.

5.2 Using Knobs and Wheels

3. Use the TIME DIVISION knob to change the speed of the arpeggio.
4. Explore other arpeggiator parameters like LATCH and SYNC for varied patterns.
