1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the OOYCYOO M100A 100A Solar Charge Controller. This device is designed to manage the power flow from your solar panels to your battery bank, ensuring efficient charging and protecting your batteries from overcharge and over-discharge. It features automatic 12V/24V system identification, an intuitive LCD display, dual USB outputs, and advanced MPPT+PWM charging technology.

2. Safety Instructions

Please read all instructions carefully before installation and operation. Failure to follow these instructions may result in damage to the controller, batteries, or other components, and may cause personal injury.

  • Ensure the battery has sufficient voltage for the controller to recognize the battery type before first installation.
  • The charge controller is suitable for lead-acid batteries (OPEN, AGM, GEL) and Lithium batteries. Do not use for other battery types.
  • Install the charge controller indoors, away from direct sunlight, high temperatures, and humid environments.
  • The controller will generate heat during operation; ensure good ventilation.
  • The positive and negative terminals of the solar panel, battery, and load must be connected correctly. Reverse polarity can damage the controller.
  • Always connect the battery first, then the solar panel, and finally the load. Disconnect in the reverse order.
  • This device is for off-grid solar systems only.

5. Component Identification

Familiarize yourself with the different parts of your solar charge controller:

  1. LCD Display: Shows system status and parameters.
  2. Menu Button: Navigates through display interfaces and enters settings.
  3. Up Button: Increases parameter values or scrolls up.
  4. Down Button: Decreases parameter values or scrolls down.
  5. Dual USB Ports: 5V/2A output for charging external devices.
  6. Solar Panel Terminals: Connect to solar panels (positive and negative).

6. Installation & Wiring

Follow these steps for safe and correct installation:

  1. Prepare for Installation: Choose a well-ventilated, dry, and cool location for the controller, away from flammable materials. Ensure sufficient space around the controller for air circulation.
  2. Connect the Battery: First, connect the battery to the charge controller's battery terminals (marked with a battery symbol). Ensure correct polarity (+ to + and - to -). The controller will automatically detect the battery voltage (12V or 24V).
  3. Connect the Solar Panel: Next, connect the solar panel to the charge controller's solar panel terminals (marked with a sun symbol). Again, observe correct polarity.
  4. Connect the Load: Finally, connect your DC loads to the charge controller's load terminals (marked with a light bulb symbol). Ensure correct polarity.

Important Wiring Order: Always connect the battery first, then the solar panel, and finally the load. To disconnect, follow the reverse order: disconnect the load, then the solar panel, and finally the battery.

7. Operating the Controller

The LCD display provides real-time information and allows for parameter adjustments.

7.1 LCD Display Interfaces

Press the MENU button to browse through different display interfaces:

  • Main Display: Shows current battery voltage, solar panel charging status, and load status.
  • Float Voltage: Displays the voltage at which the battery is maintained after full charge.
  • Discharge Reconnect Voltage: The voltage at which the load will be reconnected after low voltage disconnect.
  • Discharge Stop Voltage: The low voltage disconnect point for the load.
  • Load Work Mode: Configures how the load operates (e.g., always on, dusk to dawn, timed).
  • Battery Type: Selects the battery chemistry (Gel, AGM, Flooded, Lithium).
  • Work Parameter Display: Shows other operational parameters.

7.2 Setting Parameters

To adjust parameters (e.g., Float Voltage, Discharge Stop Voltage, Battery Type):

  1. Navigate to the desired parameter interface using the MENU button.
  2. Once on the parameter interface (e.g., Float Voltage), press and hold the MENU button for 5 seconds until the value starts flashing.
  3. Use the UP and DOWN buttons to adjust the value.
  4. Press the MENU button again to save the setting and exit the flashing state.

Note: The controller supports 7 programmable charge modes for different battery types (Gel/AGM/Li/Flooded). Ensure the correct battery type is selected for optimal charging and battery longevity.

7.3 USB Output

The dual 5V/2A USB ports can be used to charge compatible electronic devices. These ports are active when the controller is powered by the battery.

8. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your solar charge controller:

  • Periodically check all wiring connections for tightness and corrosion.
  • Keep the controller clean and free from dust. Use a dry cloth for cleaning.
  • Ensure the ventilation openings are not blocked to allow for proper heat dissipation.
  • Monitor the LCD display for any error codes or unusual readings.
