3. Safety Information
Please read and understand the following safety precautions before installation:
- Always disconnect power from your computer before installing or removing any components.
- Handle components with care to avoid damage.
- Be aware of sharp edges on heatsink fins.
- Keep thermal paste away from skin and eyes. In case of contact, rinse thoroughly with water.
- Ensure proper grounding to prevent electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage to components.
4. Setup and Installation
The installation process varies slightly depending on your CPU socket type (Intel or AMD). Follow the instructions carefully for your specific platform.
4.1. Preparation
- Power off your computer and unplug the power cord.
- Open your computer case to access the motherboard.
- If replacing an existing cooler, carefully remove it and clean any old thermal paste from the CPU and cooler base using isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth.
4.2. Intel Socket Installation (LGA 115X/1200/1700/1851)
- Identify the correct backplate and standoffs for your Intel socket (e.g., LGA 1700 requires specific standoffs).
- Place the backplate on the rear side of the motherboard, aligning the holes with the CPU socket mounting holes.
- From the front side of the motherboard, screw in the appropriate standoffs through the mounting holes into the backplate. Tighten them finger-tight.
- Apply a small amount of thermal paste to the center of your CPU's integrated heat spreader (IHS). A pea-sized dot or a thin line is usually sufficient.
- Place the heatsink onto the CPU, aligning the mounting holes on the heatsink base with the standoffs.
- Secure the heatsink using the provided mounting bracket and screws. Tighten the screws in a diagonal pattern (e.g., top-left, bottom-right, top-right, bottom-left) until snug. Do not overtighten.
- Attach the 120mm A-RGB fan to the heatsink using the included fan clips. Ensure the fan is oriented to blow air through the heatsink towards the rear or top of your case.
- Connect the 4-pin PWM fan cable to the "CPU_FAN" header on your motherboard.
- Connect the 3-pin A-RGB cable to a compatible 5V A-RGB header on your motherboard.

4.3. AMD Socket Installation (AM4/AM5)
- Remove the plastic retention clips from the stock AMD backplate, but keep the original AMD backplate on the motherboard.
- Screw the appropriate AMD standoffs into the original AMD backplate's mounting holes from the front side of the motherboard.
Tighten the screws in a diagonal pattern until snug.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Fan Operation (PWM)
The 120mm fan is a Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) fan. This means its speed is automatically controlled by your motherboard based on the CPU temperature. This ensures optimal cooling performance while minimizing noise during lighter loads. You can typically adjust the fan curve settings in your motherboard's BIOS/UEFI or through motherboard-specific software.
5.2. A-RGB Lighting Control
The Silentware Bora features Addressable RGB (A-RGB) lighting. Connect the 3-pin A-RGB cable to a compatible 5V A-RGB header on your motherboard. Once connected, you can control and synchronize the lighting effects using your motherboard's RGB software (e.g., ASUS Aura Sync, MSI Mystic Light Sync, Gigabyte RGB Fusion, ASRock Polychrome Sync). Ensure the header is 5V A-RGB and not 12V RGB to prevent damage.

6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps ensure optimal performance and longevity of your CPU cooler:
- Dust Cleaning: Periodically (every 3-6 months, or more frequently in dusty environments) clean the heatsink fins and fan blades. Use compressed air to blow dust out of the heatsink. Hold the fan blades gently to prevent them from spinning rapidly during cleaning, which can damage the bearing.
- Thermal Paste: While not required frequently, if you remove the cooler for any reason, it is recommended to clean off the old thermal paste and apply a fresh layer before reinstallation.
7. Troubleshooting
- High CPU Temperatures:
- Ensure the cooler is properly seated and making full contact with the CPU.
- Verify that thermal paste was applied correctly and evenly.
- Check if the fan is spinning. If not, ensure it's connected to the "CPU_FAN" header and enabled in BIOS.
- Clean any dust buildup from the heatsink fins.
- Check your case's airflow; ensure there's adequate intake and exhaust.
- Fan Not Spinning or Making Noise:
- Confirm the 4-pin PWM cable is securely connected to the "CPU_FAN" header.
- Check BIOS settings to ensure the CPU fan header is enabled and configured correctly.
- Inspect for any cables or obstructions hitting the fan blades.
- If the fan is making unusual noises, it might indicate a bearing issue. Contact support if under warranty.
- A-RGB Lighting Not Working:
- Ensure the 3-pin A-RGB cable is connected to a 5V A-RGB header on your motherboard, not a 12V RGB header.
- Verify that your motherboard's RGB software is installed and configured correctly.
- Check for loose connections.
