5. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your HIKMICRO MiniE thermal camera, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Gently wipe the camera lens and body with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the device.
  • Storage: Store the camera in its provided storage pouch when not in use to protect it from dust, scratches, and impacts. Keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Handling: Handle the camera with care. Avoid dropping it or subjecting it to strong vibrations.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 Common Questions

  • Q: Can I use an extension cable with an adapter?
A: Do not combine the extension cable with an adapter, as this could lead to a connection failure.
  • Q: What is the importance of the infrared detector resolution?
A: Infrared resolution plays a fundamental role in defining the level of detail of a thermal image. Higher resolution results in better image quality, but also costs more. Therefore, it is essential to balance desired image quality and budget when choosing a thermal imaging device.
  • Q: The device makes clicking sounds and the screen briefly freezes. Is this abnormal?
A: Calibration is a routine process that optimizes image quality and measurement accuracy. The camera briefly stops and makes a "click" sound during calibration. This occurs more frequently during startup or in extreme temperatures.
  • Q: How can the accuracy of a thermal camera's temperature be checked?
A: 1. Fill a glass with crushed ice and water, then turn on the thermal camera. 2. Stir the mixture and let it sit for a few minutes. 3. Set the thermal camera's emissivity to 0.96 and adjust the distance. 4. Point the thermal camera at the water surface. If the temperature is between 28.4°F and 35.6°F (with an accuracy of +/- 2% or 2°C), the thermal camera is accurate. 5. If the thermal camera passes the test but readings are still incorrect, contact our support team for assistance.
  • Q: Can the thermal camera detect pipes and termites inside walls?
A: Thermal cameras can often "see" hidden objects behind walls, ceilings, and floors by identifying temperature differences on the surface, such as hot water pipes or termite activity. However, effective thermography requires some experience and understanding of its operation. For example, to locate hot water pipes, let the hot water run for 15 to 30 minutes for the pipes to be visible on the camera. To identify termites, it is equally useful to understand their behavior and activity patterns. Do not hesitate to contact us if you have problems or cannot find what you are looking for.
