4. Setup and Installation
The Philips Solar Security Light is designed for easy, wire-free installation. Follow these steps for optimal performance:
- Choose a Location: Select an outdoor location that receives direct sunlight for at least 6-8 hours daily to ensure the solar panel charges effectively. The recommended installation height is approximately 8.2 feet (2.5 meters) for optimal motion detection and light coverage.
- Mount the Bracket: Use the provided screws and wall anchors to securely attach the mounting bracket to your chosen surface (e.g., wall, fence).
- Attach the Light: Slide the solar security light onto the mounted bracket until it clicks securely into place.
- Adjust Light Heads and Solar Panel: The three LED light heads can be rotated up to 130° horizontally and vertically. Adjust them to cover your desired area. Ensure the solar panel is angled to maximize sun exposure.

Motion Sensor Functionality
The integrated PIR motion sensor is designed to detect movement within a 49.2ft range and a 180° induction angle. This ensures that the light activates when needed, providing security and convenience. The sensor is most effective when positioned to cover the desired detection area without obstructions.

6. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Philips Solar Security Light, follow these simple maintenance guidelines:
- Clean the Solar Panel: Regularly wipe the solar panel with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust, dirt, and debris. A clean panel ensures maximum sunlight absorption and efficient battery charging.
- Clear Obstructions: Ensure no trees, bushes, or other objects block direct sunlight from reaching the solar panel throughout the day.
- Inspect for Damage: Periodically check the light unit for any signs of physical damage or wear.
- Battery Care: The integrated lithium-ion battery is designed for long-term use. Avoid prolonged storage in a completely discharged state.

7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Philips Solar Security Light, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:
- Light Not Turning On at Night:
- Ensure the solar panel is receiving adequate direct sunlight (6-8 hours) during the day.
- Check if the light is set to the correct operating mode (Sensor, Dim, or Dim+Sensor). Press the power button to cycle through modes.
- Verify there are no external light sources (e.g., streetlights, other outdoor lights) interfering with the solar panel's light sensor, which might prevent it from activating. - Light is Dim or Short-Lived:
- The battery may not be fully charged. Ensure the solar panel is clean and has unobstructed exposure to direct sunlight.
- Cold weather can affect battery performance. Allow the light to charge in warmer conditions if possible. - Motion Sensor Not Working:
- Confirm the light is in a motion-sensing mode (Sensor or Dim+Sensor).
- Check for obstructions in front of the motion sensor.
- Ensure the sensor is positioned correctly to cover the desired detection area. - Light Flickers:
- This could indicate a low battery. Allow the light to fully charge.
