3. Operating Instructions

The MT8206 offers various modes and functions for comprehensive electrical testing.

3.1 General Operation

  • Turn the rotary switch to the desired measurement function (e.g., V~ for AC Voltage, V- for DC Voltage, Ω for Resistance).
  • The device features auto-ranging, but manual range selection is also possible.
  • Press the AUTO button to enable or disable auto-ranging.
  • Press the DIS button to switch between digital display and graphical waveform display.
  • Use the REL button for relative value measurement (clearing).
  • Press the HOLD button to freeze the current measurement reading on the display.

3.2 Silent Mode

The MT8206 features an innovative one-button "silent mode" to turn off all beeps and prompt tones.

  • To activate Silent Mode: While the device is OFF, press and hold the SELE button for two seconds until the device turns on.
  • To deactivate Silent Mode: While the device is OFF, press and hold the SELE button for two seconds again until the device turns on.

3.3 Automatic Sleep Function

The device is designed with an automatic sleep function to conserve battery life. If there is no operation (no rotary switch or button presses) for 15 minutes, the meter will automatically enter sleep state.

  • To resume operation from sleep: Turn the rotary switch to OFF and then turn it on again.
  • To cancel Automatic Sleep: While the device is OFF, press and hold the AUTO button for two seconds until the device turns on.
  • To re-enable Automatic Sleep: While the device is OFF, press and hold the AUTO button for two seconds and then release it.

Note: Even in automatic shutdown, a small operating current of about 4 mA remains. For long-term storage, it is recommended to remove the batteries.

3.4 ACmV Small Signal Waveform Measurement

For measuring small AC voltage signals and displaying their waveforms:

  1. Manually select the ACmV range using the rotary switch.
  2. Long press the SELE button to enter waveform display mode.
  3. Press the AUTO button to initiate one-button automatic waveform capture and display a stable waveform.

Note: When the frequency exceeds 10 kHz, the one-button automatic capture time may be longer.

4. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and accuracy of your MT8206.

4.1 Cleaning

Wipe the device with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the device is off and disconnected from any power sources before cleaning.
